Strangely it kinda add stuff that doesn't make sense in the serie as a whole (not retconning but the whole phazon stuff). This is why Prime is mostly a spinoff serie (and Other M should stay as a spin off as well)

As convoluted as other M can be...it does fill in a lot of holes. Just ignore then mischaracterizing Samus, using a poor control system, and not making us actually care about the other characters. Ridley is the ultimate parasite himself, considering even as a chick he had incredible intelligence to lure a researcher in and eat them. By eating the researchers and fallen soldiers, Ridley was able to grow and evolve fast enough to go from chick to fully grown in a matter of hours.

But the 2 2D Metroid final bossesthat stick out to me the most is Mecha Ridley from Metroid Zero Mission and Proteus Ridley from Metroid Samus Returns remake which are two of my favorite final boss battles in the Metroid franchise.

Usually because once she starts using beams, you’ve already reached the point in the fight where the cutscene is supposed to play out, so any damage you do to her during this time seems basically negligible.

Ridley seems out of place in Samus Returns. I guess one could that say that that's how the Space Pirates knew about the baby Metroid (he sees it in the remake), but why was he even on SR388 in the first place? Didn't the entire Prime Trilogy happen between Metroid NES and Metroid 2? He looks sort of like he did in MP3. It was sort of just confusing.

The end of the Samus Returns remake looks like a fun boss fight, but I feel it ruins the story of Super Metroid if Samus was _just_ fighting Ridley on SR388 and the baby metroid totally kicked his ass but then she shoves it in a bottle to give to the federation and woops Ridley's back at full health in time to steal it immediately after, giving her barely enough time to throw all her upgrades into the vacuum of space before coming back to fight him again.
