They were both made by Game Freak (e company that also helped make Earthbound and Smash Bros. I believe)

The SNES version is better but it still annoys me in pre Yoshi's Story games that Yoshi's voice is literally just a 2 note sound. Then again it did make him seem more like a dinosaur :]
