The character Forge is a veteran of the Vietnam War. And as an amputee, he lost his limbs during the Vietnam War. When he accidentally summoned a hoard of demons. His character backstory is always tied up with a War similar to The Punisher. Yes magical powers.

So evolution means...... "darkening up" amara. Wolverine and the X-Men is the one that really does make him white, on evolution you can still see he's Cheyenne, also in the comics his skin is lighter, Danielle also a Cheyenne has a darker skin.
