God of War 3 blew my fricking mind back in 2010. I waited so much after that cliffhanger and the intro of GOW 3 is insanely awesome and was the example to show off PS3 capabilities. You start the game and kill Poseidon, and you kill almost all of the gods along the game like holy shit how good is that?

Ok here's the thing, I've played Ghost of Sparta and Ninja Gaiden 3 continuously over the course of a week and I got bored of NG3 first, also make note that I had been playing GOS for like a year prior, oh still not bored of GOS actually, speaking of hack-and-slash, Deadpool isn't really a bad game either in terms of gameplay

DisgruntledCommenter you don’t have to, but it might be nice to know a little bit about the story. I have a feeling they’ll tie it to the older games somehow, but I honestly have NO clue. Maybe not pay the games, but at least watch some other videos on the story of god of war, like the one by ArcadeCloud or just watch full playthroughs of the game. It’s a great series that deserves a watch for a possible better experience in the new one :)

That's not really an accomplishment, Gow series is not made with challenge in mind. It's designed to be made to keep progressing and continue the story. It supposed to be make casuals feel like a bad ass, and FWIW..SM Studios did an incredible job of that.

God of War III is my favorite. It's 7 years old and the graphics rival that of games today. Now that it's remastered on PS4, the gameplay is even more fluid. All the boss battles are epic. The soundtrack is beautifully barbaric with those pounding drums and blasting horns. The plot is decent, but the symbolism of the certain evils inside each god was clever. It's just a masterfully crafted piece of art.

I disagree. I think the gameplay is just as enjoyable as the original. That one puzzle in Hera's garden, for example, where it shifted your view from perspective to orthographic was genius and highly entertaining to solve, despite the amount of time that might have been consumed. The Labyrinth was also a really cool level design, platforming through giant boxes and putting the pieces slowly together. I admit, there are some frustrating parts with certain enemies on certain levels, especially on higher difficulties, but I don't think it detracted from the gameplay experience too much.

I also disagree. GoW1 and GoW3 differ a lot. Some of the puzzels in GoW3 are interesting but overall it was a mega letdown. Level design alone does not make a game.

Right, which is why I used them as examples and not merely the sole purpose why I liked GoW 3 over GoW 1. To further reinforce why I enjoyed the game, I found more uses for the weapons in GoW 3, both in combat and level progression. I found it easier to juggle enemies with certain combos with the blades of exile as opposed to the blades of chaos. As far as magic abilities go, I will say GoW 1 had better abilities, especially the souls of Hades. I found more of the music in Gow 3 to be memorable as well, such as this one segment in Revenge Falling, Anthem of the Dead, and especially the March of Tartarus. So well composed and the mood of the music fit the scene and situation you were in. I enjoyed the voice acting in GoW 3 as well. Kratos sounded more rough, Zeus sounded more like his age, I also kinda liked Athena's voice more in Gow 3 as well. Gow 3 did use some elements of sentimentality here and there, but I didn't hink it was so much as to consider it kitsch.

More uses for weapons is not something I would care much about. To me the story, the visual side and the way playing the game feels like are far more important elements. I want the story to be believable and interesting, I want the visuals to be stunning and inspiring I want gameplay to be great. I want to think about the game when Im not playing it. And not regret spending money on it. GoW III is not like that. The additional stuff they added to the special edition is embarassing even after 8 years. What's worse, GoW III also completely lacks the peculiar rigidness of the original. Kitch is dominant and overwhelming. Characters look small on the screen. Many of their attacks look particularly inconvincing. Athena? A very awkward design. It just looks bad. BTW. Have you noticed any difference in the way the Blades of Chaos / Exile feel used? Just curious.

Kyle pretty much explained it, for Kratos, if he's killed he ends up in a physical place, Tartarus, which he can simply fight his way out of, making Kratos pretty much immortal, and since Hades is dead, it's extremely easy now

I remember when I was 6 or 7 years old and I saw my dad playing God of War 1 on his ps2. I had asked to give it a shot ( I grew up on video games so I knew what I was doing in most games for the most part ) and he willingly let me play and I played the game for hours on end getting really far into the story and falling in love with it. This was the third video game I have played and still remains one of my favorite series of all time.

First time seeing this I was in the 4th Grade and my step dad got this as a demo on a PlayStation Underground disc (for us old heads). Two months later...I see this game in its entirety and I was hooked. Hands down my favorite gaming franchise of all time beside another GOW (Gears of War) My favorite?? GOW 2 but GOW 3 was the culmination of everything Kratos’ and my journey to destroy the family that cursed him...beating Zeus’ face is was the perfect ending to our conquest.

Yeah, let's clarify it better. GoW is the best casual h/s game. Dark Souls/Ninja Gaiden/DMC/Nier Automata are by far better h/s games. GoW visuals and budget is obviously bigger, so it reaches for a wider audience.

Those are far better games than any God of War game could aspire to be, so I get that. God of War's combat system offers nothing to high-level players, unlike Devil May Cry's Stylish mechanic and Ninja Gaiden's lightning-fast gameplay.

I swear to god god of war is one of my favorite games I’ve beaten the very hard mode in every game. And tbh the game never got boring or even frustrating it always made me feel badass asf when I beat a hard fight. I really hope this new one goes as good as the others

The 2nd is my favorite. Can’t go wrong playing GoW 2. But I love that there is another coming out. I’m nervous they might screw this up. I’m in my 30’s and grew up along side this genre. I’m not one for preorder or anything like that but it’s something I plan on getting immediately. I’m pumped just talking about it. Btw love what u guys do keep em coming.

I remember when i was in my junior high years ( i just got the ps2 😀) and my mom unknowingly bought a bunch of PS2 games from a nearby gamestore for me to play with. One of them was the First God Of War, and Wow I fell in Love instantly ❤️ Probly my First ever entry into the Hack n Slash Genre. Loved Every second of every Moment, Hacking N Slashing Enemies left right and center, Truly an Amazing Experience 👏👏👏 God Of War will always Be in My Book as One of THE Best Action Games OF ALL TIME ❤️
