I think Elina Salo’s voice is absolutely perfect for Little My’s character; a tiny woman with an enormous attitude and a ton of grit, but also has a big heart when it comes to helping and fighting for her friends. I’m impressed how she started out in that strange, but charming live action series in 1969 and revived the role in the Finnish dub of the 90’s anime more than 20 years later (she was also in Moomins Sur La Riviera in 2014). Edit: I think my favorite take on Little My is the one in the 1959 marionette show. She’s so adorable in that one!

I actually read somewhere (I forgot what the source was and can’t find it) that the Soviet studio that made Shlyapa Volshebnika was going to make a similar adaptation based on the book Moominvalley Midwinter, but it was cancelled (likely due to budget issues or government control). If we got that adaptation, Little My would have definitely showed up. I wonder if she and Mymble would have looked like ducks like Snufkin? The source also stated that the reason why the character designs are so off-putting was because the designer didn’t believe that Tove Jansson’s illustrations matched her own stories and wanted them to appear more whimsical and shallow.
