I think it is terribly brave to have your parenting open for critique on television, so I give all these families full marks for the effort of trying to make their family lives better. It is so easy to judge, but most of these folks were open to help and wanted to improve the quality of their home life. If it resulted in better outcomes for these children, it is a great success

If Angus has ADHD and we know ADHD is hereditary, could it be that Mom has ADHD as well? It could explain the volatile emotions, the lack of patience and the feeling that she's not in control.

Paula's interactions with Angus have haunted me since the first episode was uploaded. So heart breaking. I wonder how they are doing now. It hasn't escaped my notice that she's the only parent going it alone. The parenting course did not address the key issues because they were well beyond its remit. Bless her for letting the cameras in while she was so obviously vulnerable but goodness her tone with Angus upsets me so much. I hope for both their sakes she got the help she needed. 😥

As they're not nearly as drawn out and show Much more Quick, Rewarding and Productive results than these Extremely Stressful and Depressing Videos and in a fraction of the time!!!😍🤗😃😉... There's actually a section on the Super Nanny Home page that says Teenagers... And another show called "World's Strictest Parents"!! You may also type in KZbin's search bar... Behavioral Teaching Techniques for Teenagers!!! Or Teenager behavioral videos... etc.!!??... Good Luck and God Bless Everyone!!!💖😍🤗😉

I don't think this was the right programme for Paula and Angus. Paula is clearly a very stressed-out woman filled with anxiety, to the point where it's affecting her emotional health, wellbeing and relationship with her son. Angus's hyperactive behaviours are not helping her, but seeing Paula in distress puts him on edge and seems to cause him to act out more, which just stresses out Paula even more. It's a vicious circle really. I think really she could've benefited from seeing a therapist, and then adapting more appropriate discipline techniques considering her son's ADHD.
@AussieBrit

I really believe that Paula would benefit greatly if she would get a babysitter to look after Angus on the weekends and take a day for herself to relax and de-stress. Also, as a counselor, I feel that this was not the appropriate program for her and Angus. She should have sought the help of a therapist to teach her specialized techniques in ADHD.

@Purple people In my head,absolutely! She needs to wear him out a little. I have seen miracles in ADHD children who take martial arts classes as well. There is often an emphasis on personal discipline and controlling their behavior (think before acting). But Angus just has a lot of energy that needs to be burned off. It wouldn't hurt to review his diet. Red dye can create as much misbehavior as sugar.

She isn't only cold, she is simply horrible. That constant nagging and whining made ME feel aggressive, just by watching it ... how must that be for her child? It also seems that she constantly actively tries to find something to whine about, like when she complained about him not being able to walk in a straight line - they were on a meadow! Also, apparently Angus has been diagnosed with AHDH, so surely she has received extensive information on how to treat her son in order to limit the effects, especially since he is on Ritalin. But many of the things she does are the exact opposite of what's recommended. She doesn't seem to be the smartes person either. In the "be nice to your child"-episode she was utterly baffled to see that her child behaves differently if she treats him in a nice and friendly way. When it came to bedtime she was equaly surprised to have found out that it goes much smoothern if she cuddles with him and reads to him, rather than turn on the TV and tell him to shut up and sleep.

He's really attached to her because it seems like he has no friends or other family members who care for him who he can spend time with. It's so sad. Plus his mum dumps all of her life's problems on him. I understand she's extremely tired and doing everything alone but it's not good to tell your children about every single problem in your life and make them feel like they're to blame for everything

Angus s mother has the same tone of voice all the time........she is a pain in the neck. She is worn out, but she is basically cold and ought to have psychological help, The others are much more emotianal, even though harsh at times, but, emotional!

A couple of these "parents" dont have children issues. They need help. We have a mother who relies on her young boy as though he is her husband. A person to mentally unwell to cope with themself in charge of a young boy who is also disordered. A mother who quite clearly and unapologetically hates her boy and plays very clear favorites and in that same dynamic a set of parents that openly blamed a child for how their parents cant get along. These people needed personal help not child help. They need child services to monitor their behavior and some basic parenting and child development classes. This was not the right course for them as they are not mature enough to parent. Theres too many parents here who need a therapist and whos own behavior is the issue. The children are helplessly dependent on their parents moods and whims.

Some of them did improve and genuinely seemed as though they just needed some help on techniques...they were appropriate for this but the warning signs for at least 2 families are blaring

After watching these show i noticed that the 3 years old use diapers and bottles maybe not all but alot... In the us kids are out of diapers and off the bottle by 15 months to 2 years old.... I'm not saying that they're wrong just different way of doing it...

Kids should certainly be able to use a potty by 2 years old! I'm from England, most kids are out of nappies by 2, I think it's just coz there parents are a bit useless.... :/

I've heard that all over the western world children have started using diapers to older and older ages in the past 20 years or so. It's because diapers have become so good (not leaky etc.), so a lot of families don't have the motivation to start potty training early on, but would rather wait a bit until their kids are older. I did some googling just now and it seems that both in the US and the UK, training ages vary heavily depending on the parents' income, so that probably plays a part in what we see in these types of shows as well.

It should come naturally as it did with most of these parents. Having difficult or spoilt kids would get anyone down like poor Paula. Tracy should never have had kids. She's a mother not a mum. Her behaviour towards the kids and Gary is disgusting. She made the kids that way cause she doesn't care. I couldn't believe she said she never use to love Aaron.....cause he was always naughty. Oh my gosh, that's horrible. Nope, don't like anything about her. Gary should kick her out and keep the kids.

What year was this originally aired? The lack of car seats for most of the children if not all of the children was practically non-existent, which in 2019 would not be acceptable, there's no way society or the law would allow children in the front of the car or children so young in any of the cars not to be in car seats. I also think that we now know so much more about the effects sugar has on children that we didn't know back almost 20 years ago. I think overall most parenting has changed for the better in most cases, another example is that they don't have little televisions in their rooms anymore. Although unfortunately I suppose there is more gaming and iPads and stuff that has taken over the little children instead of a tape of Barney or Bob the Builder. Overall I found it very interesting what positive parenting can achieve versus parents who Scream and Shout at their young children and a lot of it could still be put into practice today. I'd love if they did a revisit just see how they are doing, there all grown up and are young adults by now !

Why does Cameron still have a baby bottle and suck a pacifier? My pediatrician wanted my son off the baby bottle before his first birthday. The pacifier was gone by 4 months. It drives me crazy to see a kid running around talking and still using a bottle and pacifier. I can only contribute it to lazy parenting.
