At first I thought maybe Nintendo would try to preserve the lore of the character and not include her in mainline entries (but include her in the party games), but they did make her a playable character in 3D World, and there is a hidden sticker of her in Odyssey. So I was going to type in my theory, but it fell apart as I started typing it.

Mercedes Rose IS the true Rosalina, i don’t care what anyone says. she has this voice of a star goddess that matches her origin story and had this motherly tone (and because she’s a mother of the Lumas, it really makes perfect sense for her character)💙 I really don’t understand about what was the point of replacing her like…. at all??? even Mercedes herself said that she is not sure why Nintendo replaced her. cuz bruh, if they would’ve made her stay and do Rosalina’s voice, she would’ve gotten TONS of love and support Kerri had a lovely voice given to Rosie. (too bad she had to move out, she would’ve been the perfect replacement for Mercedes…). one thing I also don’t get is why didn’t they brought back Mercedes after they finished with Kerri? yeesh, the only time I liked Laura’s Rosalina voice was only in Super Mario 3D World. but in most games later on, shes sounds wayyy too much like Peach instead of Rosalina, that it’s just completely unfitting for her character. and tbh, i don’t see her voice as Rosalina. again, it’s almost like I’m hearing Peach. she can never top Mercedes, sorry not sorry-

Nintendo is just honestly so rude to voice actors. like let me tell you… when it comes to Jun Mizusawa voicing Princess Zelda, they most likely give her only less of a time to voice her. and when it comes to Yu Shimamura voicing Zelda, they give her most of the spotlight (which btw, I don’t have anything against Yu since she’s my second favorite voice for Princess Zelda). but both Mercedes and Jun deserved to voice their characters more.

it’s a preference honestly. her old voice matched her peaceful personality but then nintendo turned her into a main character, making her more competitive. i believe they changed her personality for that reason, and even though i despised it at first, her new personality/voice grew on me!

Its overall a really nice evolution of how she went from just being mysterious and happy to more joyful and expressive. Even though some still prefer the former because it made her unique its still a way of showing how much she's grown to be more carefree and outgoing.

Honestly while I prefered Mercedes' acting (Rosalina's actor from the Mario Galaxy games and Mario Kart Wii) I honestly think Kerri and Laura's actings are also very good. The problem is, they did "out of character" to Rosalina because they thought she was too serious for a Mario character (even though there are SEVERAL other serious Mario characters).
