Did you know that in the Japanese Spider-Man's Giant Robot battles gave Japan their Sentai Series to bring back for the robot battles used in Super Sentai TV series that would soon become season one of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993? You should do a Pop Culture evolution for the Power Rangers in 2023 when Power Rangers turns 30!

The first Toby Maguire "Spider-Man" movie actually has a basis in the comics for him semi having organic webbing. In the comics there was a storyline where Spider-Man was cloned. Of the three clones made of him one was identical to his normal self, and later went onto (for a short time) replace Peter Parker when they erroneously believed that Peter was the clone and Ben Reilly was the real Peter. His other two clones had defects in the genetic material, with one able to produce an acid from his skin that burned his victims, and took on the name of "Kaine". The third clone actually WAS able to create organic webbing from his hands, but did not become as involved as the former two clones in the comics. All three were created by the Jackal, though I cannot remember who was using that alias at the time.

Sorry, but the organic webbing idea predates the 90's comic book Clone Saga. The idea originated with James Cameron in the Spidey movie treatment that he created for Caralco films and later Cannon films. Sam Raimi and Sony later inherited the movie rights and kept the organic webbing from the original movie treatment.

Comic accurate or not, I actually prefer him having organic webbing. 1) what’s the point of “spider powers” if you can’t web? But 2) Mechanical webbing seems crazy, because you couldn’t get very far without running out of fluid. Those bracelets couldn’t hold more than a few ounces. A few shots…and then your falling to your death! So the natural webbing makes a lot more sense.

The 67 Spiderman, with that amazing opening theme is my favorite, but I only remember seeing the first season that still had the comic book baddies. Christopher Daniel Barnes in the 94 run. Rino Romano in unlimited. Josh Keaton in spectacular. Drake Bell in ultimate and the crossovers of that era. Robbie Daymond 2017 series, it’s crossovers and both disk wars’s & future English dub. Shinji Kawada in the Japanese of disk wars & future. Daymond, Ben Diskin and Cole Howard in the various Lego projects. Benjamin Valic in the 2021 Amazing Friends. For spider-verse there was John Mulaney and Kimko as Spider-Ham and Peni Parker Across the spider-verse will see Oscar Isaac return as Miguel O’Hara the Spider-Man of 2099. Hudson Thames in What If?

Kirby will always be the King, but in this case he was just being faithful to what Steve Ditko had already designed and used in the issue. Stan Lee, who was the editor and dialogue writer, loved the story Ditko had created, but he didn't think the cover was powerful enough, so he had Kirby draw another cover for the issue at the last minute. Ditko's original cover has been reprinted several times in subsequent years. The published one has become iconic, but I'd say the two covers are actually close to the same quality, except Ditko's original didn't give the reader a clear view of the costume. I think that was the difference, given Spidey was a brand new character.

13:30 - Spiderman actual fueled the Sentai craze. It was the popularity of giant robots on his show that cause toei to bring giant robots to Sentai which didn't have any until that point. Which saved Sentai. Since JAKQ was doing poorly. 15 seasons of sentai later Saban brought Zyuranger over to America as Power Rangers. So yes, Spider-Man is why we have Power Rangers.

The Ultimate Spider-Man is the most underrated Spider-Man of all time, for me he’ll always be the best Spider-Man incarnation. He’s absolutely hilarious, and for one of the only times ever he’s actually insanely powerful and doesn’t constantly act like a kid. Like this version of Spider-Man is actually stronger than the Hulk and Thor having killed all the Avengers, and X-men as well as a few others as Wolf Spider. And it also showed how powerful the sinister six actually is, with Rhino going head to head with The Hulk and gaining an upper hand against him as well as Goblin going on a rampage and killing everybody when Spider-Man quits. It just showed just how powerful Spider-Man really is, even comics Spider-Man can’t beat the Hulk without power ups.

I remember seeing that live action pilot in the 70’s at the cinema. It was when they showed two films one pre-movie and then the main movie. None of friends believed me saying there was no live action film.

I think the reason why Spiderman is so popular *is* his accessibility. Firstly, he's young, not some billionaire with too much free time on his hands. He has school/college, he has to get good grades, support himself financially, etc. There is a weight to being Spiderman for him because it takes up *so* much of his time, as well as affects his personal relationships very intimately, which is how it would be for most of us. We couldn't balance the double life of being ourselves plus Spiderman, so when we see him struggle to, we empathize with that experience. Also, his powers are notably simplistic and not too difficult for us to imagine having. When you see superheroes like Ironman, we often think to ourselves, "How on earth does he control that tech??" with it answered simply, "He's a genius," so it creates this distance between us and the character. With Spiderman, however, there's very little tech (albeit, a little more with the most recent iteration, which wound up going back to its roots anyway) and what he does seems pretty doable. If we had spider powers, we'd be able to walk on walls, have super strength, and potentially have web-shooters (natural, if in the Tobey Maguire-verse). To imagine flying through New York City on some webs is a dream many of us have when sitting in gridlock, so making it seem doable gives us a fantasy we can not only imagine ourselves in, but we want to keep imagining. Sometimes, a good superhero story is one that you just don't want to leave.

my favourite Spiderman series is the 1994 one. it has a lot of complex storylines. I like the character development for Felicia and the buildup to her becoming Black Cat.

Firestar was created for Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends and had never been in an X-Men comic, her comic debut was as an Avenger. They wanted Human Torch but legal issues prevented it for the same reason we got HERBIE instead of Johnny Storm in old FF cartoons. So they invented another character with fire powers.

I know The Ultimate Spider-Man wasn't the best spiderman show, even far from it, but I still love it because it opened a door for me and introduced me to marvel as a kid, and because of it I love some characters who might never be on the big screen

Fun fact about Spiderman: Back in the '90s, the famous king of Pop Michael Jackson wanted to play our friendly neighbor as he was a big fan of the comics, if it wasn't for the allegations he faced back then, this would have been a great chance to see the famous singer playing the well known comic hero of all time.
