Thank you so much for the months of research and hard work it took to make this. The longest Cartoon Evolution to date, and one of the best. I'm surprised you were able to fully cover the emence cultural impact the Simpsons have had in this short an amount of time. They ruled the 90's, and my childhood, and even though they haven't reached the same heights since, you have to admit they've proven their incredible staying power.

The last 3 seasons (33, 34, 35) have largely returned to the style of the earlier seasons, regularly achieving standout episodes that are a huge improvement over the last 20 years. I'd say that in the Golden Era, 8/10 episodes were fantastic and 2/10 were just good. Now maybe 4/10 episodes are fantastic and 6/10 are just good. So while it's not as much of a surefire bet as it was in the 90s, they're still making an entertaining, interesting show each week. And every second or third episode is a banger that's just as good as classic Simpsons. "Pixelated And Afraid", "Lisa's Belly", "A Mid-Childhood Night's Dream" and "Iron Marge" are probably in my Top 20 episodes of all time and they all aired in the last 2 years.

WOW! I never realised how POPULAR The Simpsons are like i never knew that at all, like for them to continue onwards through seven hundred episodes is literally a MILESTONE for all the ages, i know I’ve heard people saying not bad things about The Simpsons but i heard that people aren’t enjoying the new episodes, but i don’t know if it’s just them saying that or saying like all the others seasons were golden or something like that, but regardless i still enjoy it no matter what people say about it. I didn’t realise the movie was so POPULAR as well and i can see now why people enjoy the show, i mean there was not faulted i mean they went going through some hard times but regardless they are always on top like it’s incredible, i think The Simpsons have paid the way for other shows and more, like i think in some way they’ve created like big names or animation studios or anything like that, and to see it make such an em pact of today is just incredible to see. I didn’t know there were like the first ones to do animation before Toy Story, i never knew that, and i cannot believe it surpass The Flintstones as a show as well, cause they were the first but you know The Simpsons i mean you can’t top that, i am currently watching The Flintstones and i gotta say even though it’s funny i still like The Simpsons more than that. Sorry Flintstones but it’s true.

You have out done your self this time Dave. This has got to be one of the coolest episodes you have done for a animated cartoon franchise. With it being one of the top shows during the early to late 90's and for it also being an animated prime time show and ALSO for it to out pass Gunsmoke. That is one hell of an achievement and for it to be into it's 35th Season. WOW! Now yes I grew up during the Bart-Mania of the 90s and boy howdy did it EVER take a toll one me as a kid. I wanted ALL Simpsons toys, clothes and even school supplies during that time. I even like you said in the video about the knock-off shirts I remember seeing at our event here in town was just EV-ERY where. I remember one time telling a kid at school that his shirt wasn't a real Bart Simpsons shirt and he didn't really care. He knew but didn't care the least. Now for me I never bought anything during that time that wasn't produced by either a toy company or clothing company that were legit. (Nowadays I might find some clothing that wasn't produced by actual retail stores but that's another topic for another time) Thanks for doing this. It's hard to believe that there have been a generation of kids who grew up with the Simpsons not knowing what life was without them. Yes I was way to young to even remember a time like that but knowing I was around when it first hit air waves. I also have to say that I didn't get to see the show till our affiliate ABC station started re-airing it. It didn't last that long cause they stopped airing them. YAY for DAVE!!!!

Maybe your best video! It is so expansive. Everytime you mentioned a change in creatives (season 1-10) I told myself that I remember it falling off a little bit, then you would run through the episodes and I would remember just how strong the show ran for so many seasons. Even the movie, universal ride, and holidays of future passed reminded me that they was some really good stuff after their prime. I don’t keep up with the show now, but I have seen almost all of the Tree House of horror episodes and occasionally see other new episodes. It’s not really good anymore (with some exceptions). I would love for it to pick up again or even just a really good second movie and then let the show rest. Either way, I hope they get to go out on a high note.

I'm still watching the video (currently on the movie portion), but I want to add a small trivia about The Simpsons and its airings in Portugal. The show aired (and still airs) in English with Portuguese subtitles here in Portugal (formerly on RTP1 and RTP2 and now on Fox and Fox Comedy, that will be rebranded as Star and Star Comedy, respectively). Because the show started airing in an era that European Portuguese dubs were rare, and because of the more mature content, the show never received an official dub... However, despite the movie having less restrictions (by being rated PG-13),the movie DID have an European Portuguese dub, but exclusive to cinema and home-video releases. The movie never aired dubbed on Fox Movies. While most people hate the dub because the show never had one, there's a small cult following for the movie's dub. As a matter of fact, when the Plusaverssary special was announced, people speculated that the special would be dubbed because of the Disney characters and that the Simpsons cast from the movie's dub would return... But that didn't happen...

@DaveLeeDownUnder Great episode. I did want to mention that at 57:00, we are told that the Maggie Simpson short "The Longest Daycare" was produced in stereoscopic 3D, "Marking the Simpson's first outing in the format." Except, of course, the "Homer ^3" episode that was presented as part of the IMAX 3D presentation of Cyberworld mentioned at 40:05. The 2D animated part was on a flat screen but the CGI part was in full 3D.
@DaveLeeDownUnder11 ай бұрын
Thanks! That's why I specifically mentioned that it was the first Simpsons media "produced" for Stereoscopic 3D. Homer Cubed was never intended to be screened that way - it was post-converted for the IMAX film (I had already mentioned it screened as a part of 'CyberWorld' in 3D, so I'm very well aware of this).
@caligulathegod11 ай бұрын
@@DaveLeeDownUnder You didn't say that. You said that it was produced in stereoscopic 3D and that it was their first outing in the format, not that it was the first Simpsons media produced for stereoscopic 3D. Homer ^3 was "post-converted" by re-rendering the digital files with a slightly offset virtual camera to produce the stereoscopic image, therefore "produced" in the format even if it was not done so at the outset. The modern fake post-conversion technique of using depth maps to convert 2D films to 3D did not exist then, so this was true 3D. The modern 3D boom didn't even start for another five years. I love this really in-depth analysis, so great job.

I love the videos. Other cartoon evolution videos i would love to see are alvin and the chipmunks, little lulu, garfield, top cat, the smurfs, family guy, hey arnold, goofy's son max, king of the hill, arthur, bearenstein bears and Clifford the big red dog. Around the Holliday you should do rudolph, frosty and Santa claus.

I’ve seen it and it’s great!! Unfortunately, I won’t have time to watch all the other movies to do a ranking right now. I’ll be taking a couple of weeks off over Christmas 😊

Excellent job (no surprise, really), and, yes, long. But I still think it was quite an oversight not to include the Steamed Hams meme as a pop culture response to the series. That had some of the most creative examples, even bringing the likes of Jeff Goldblum (!) and the writer of the original episode into the mix. A ton of videos during covid lockdown, and even a briefer reprise recently.

9:41-9:48 Talk about hilarious in hindsight - or, depending on your opinion of him, maybe not. 😅

Normally at least from what eyewitnessed parents and children don't like watching the same types of shows however the Simpsons is one show that all of us could get together sit down by the TV and watch. My parents bought two of that model of TV and put one in the basement but because of how big and heavy they are the one in the basement is still there.

One of the best episodes of The Simpsons is "Stalk Raving Dad" featuring the late, great, King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The first episode of the third season of the American animated television series The Simpsons. It first aired on the Fox network in the United States on September 19, 1991. Maybe Disney will be brave enough to make it available on Disney+ once again.
