Evolution R255 SMS DB+ Mitre Saw Fence warning

As you may have seen from my previous videos saws seem to be featuring a lot. Well thats true and I thought I'd share with a problem I found on my Evolution R255 SMS DB+. That is when you use the horizontal clamp, be carful do to do it too tight as it will move the back fence giving you an unpredictable cut. Or in other words a bad cut. Easy to sort out (See previous Evolution 255 video, linked below) if you know you've moved the back fence!

Hey any chance you can measure the bolt spacing for the fence? I'm looking to upgrade an older saw with the newer fence if possible.

I’m about to buy this saw and I notice there are a few different version of the 10” is the difference just the cut capacity?

Hi, on their web site I can see 2 models, and the main difference is one has a double bevel cut which allows the cutting head to swing left to right in addition to the mitre cut feature, where as the other only swings one way. Mine was the double bevel model and while I don't alway use this additional feature it is worth having. @@MikeMakesIt thank you for the clarification I appreciate it. I know it doesn’t recommend it but I was wondering if it could handle cutting quarter inch thick 2” square mild steel tubing?

Evolution have a” how to cut correctly “ video as they reached out to me when I complained about the short life of the blades. I would certainly entertain cutting the 2” tube, to my mind that’s exactly what saws are made for. Just go slow and you should be fine. Make sure it’s well clamped and have a look at the Evolution cutting guide.

@@MikeMakesIt Thanks Mike! I have an abrasive metal chopsaw. However, I hate the cut it leaves. And I also need a new woodworking miter saw so I hope this is a perfect solution. Two birds one stone. I’m placing my order now. Thank you for your input.

Hi Serge, yes the saw does have a mains powered laser already fitted that can be switched on and off. It's fine indoors but you will have difficulty seeing it when outside in bright light.
