all of this is absolutely mythical: the introduction before singing, which reveals her sense of humor and charisma, her iconic and totally out-of-time hair, her dress, worn in "tears dry", her eyeliner... and boom! Suddenly she starts singing and everything comes together: her perfect phrasing, her sharp jazz timing, her delivery to the song, her lost gaze and her voice, which sounds like it came out of a New Orleans blues bar in 1940. And then, everything ends and she leaves the stage, says goodbye to the audience, and receives an ovation. Everything Amy is here! it is a synthesis of what she was. modern and ancient. brilliant and lost. visceral and fragile. loved and alone. GOAT

Sadly as an old man I never even listened or appreciated her when she was alive. For years I only listened to the music I grew up listening to. It has only been the last 4 years or so I started to listen to more recent music and man have I missed out. Amy's sound is like fine wine. It gets better with age. Her music is timeless and I have no doubt my grandkids will be listening to her for years to come. Her "Valerie" track with Mark Ronson makes this old man want to get up and dance. Love it and love her! She may be gone but her musical legacy with outlive all of us.

It hurts me when I see her this way. After seeing the movie Amy that came out not too long ago, I can tell when she was on and off her addictions and how much it affects her performances. +Ochoaj300 I saw these things even before the docu came out coz i am a drug and alcohol addict myself.. She was the same age i am and i have been a fan of her since her first album, coz i am dutch and she was quite the thing here when frank came out. also later, she sang about things that were going on in my own life so her songs were really soothing sometimes, knowing there is someone else out there that is experiencing the same thing u are going through. i remember exactly where i was when i heared she died, and honestly it made me rethink my own life and i have been doing a lot less drugs and alcohol in specific since then.. I listen to her when i feel bad or down or w/e, and it keeps me from doing too much drugs or drinking too much and in that way she kinda saves me. day after day..
@davidboubion95008 жыл бұрын
It's cause the pain she was feeling for Blake, then the lyrics in her songs, it was a lot to deal with emotionally. It's so sad and painful to feel so strongly for a person who didn't even deserve someone great like her. I know some of the pain she was going through. I know the struggles of addiction as well. It's no joke. Some days you wake up so depressed and you can't even explain why. Then it's hard to quit. Like the more you tell yourself you're going to quit the harder it gets. It creates the obsession, which only leads you to engage even more into the addictive behaviors.
