Collecting + Taking apart our new 2020 Mini JCW GP3

We've been long term fans of the Mini platform, with most of the team being fairly smitten with our F56 Cooper S. With the launch of the GP3 Mini have released a car that has some similarities to our Cooper S; 300hp + a diff + uprated suspension + lightweight wheels. But this isn't an aftermarket tuner car, this is a factory built pocket rocket, with a warranty (for now at least...)
In this video we do a post COVID-19 car collection with Mini Park Lane, offer some initial driving impressions (full review to come) and then promptly take it apart for Eventuri development!

Car looks Epic 👌🏼 We have an F55 Cooper S in Solaris Orange and from our dealer we had a carbon fibre scoop and mirror caps fitted, black OEM handles and spotlights installed, black fuel cap and I’ve now dechromed the belt line. Last bit of chrome to go will be the grill piece. GP3 is definitely on my wish list even though our F55 looks awesome. Sadly I’ve been told I’m not allowed to buy the carbon air intake though 🤣

Is there a diagnostic program for use with an iPad for my f56 you could recommend? One that reads codes, and more. I'm not sure about what to look for and I'd like to eventually make adjustments, if that's possible.

Absolutely love it! And love the plans you’ve got for it always amazes me that you have to have paint correction done from factory and then from showroom pick up… A car dealers and Valatta is really that bad?! Shocking

A dealer valet makes sure a car is clean. They are not correcting or protecting the paintwork. A valet is not a detailer. To be clear, the car was presented exactly as we would expect from a dealer. The bodyshop we use is one of the best in the game, we would still send a freshly painted car to a detailer to have the final finish and protection done.

Probably just me, but the chrome strip going around the car under the windscreen and side/ back window i'd change to red, to complement the other red accents rather than just simply de-chroming it. Would make the car pop that just little more (imo) maybe the front and rear mini badge in red too.

Gonna be honest, no idea 😅 We carry out our own servicing and we’re a tuning company, the warranty isn’t something we’re too concerned about!

Is that warehouse filled with all the car parts you work on? What do you do with all the parts you replace on the cars?

The warehouse is filled with stock, either on the Evolve side in finished products or on the Eventuri side in components. All stock parts are kept either to go back on, or eventually get sold.

Needs further investigation but I believe the older exhausts will not fit the new JCW/GP with the 306hp engine.

The Wheel arches aren’t fake carbon, they’re made out of the same carbon used for the i3 and i8

Well its carbon plastic not carbon fiber... Just a shame they're too cheap to having matching lower arch/front bumper, looks odd being a different shade. This car is cheap and expensive at the same time.. But ultimaitly too much BS on the car for 35k. Fake rear strut brace, fake diffuser, fake air intakes everywhere and sloppy auto gearbox, big and heavy..

If they are not required by law then it’s easy! Remove it and then remap to take advantage and remove the limp mode it causes.

The arches just look really weird - not so bad on the front - but the rears looks like that are stuck on - strange with the fuel filler cap. Maybe it looks better in the flesh - OR when you body colour them they might look better.

It's ok but not many ppl have these. Majority have diesels and you are missing out not taking a diesel 35d and tune it instead. It's touring and performance at the same time. You could aim for record fastest diesel. Would be much more interesting

This auto only for 2020 MINI did is a real downer. Regardless of how good the auto might be, there's something about clutch/shifting that adds more tactile connection to the driving experience. For a car like this, that looks the business, and not be available with a manual box almost seems criminal (see mk5 supra). Sure, it saves money on federalizing a car, but from a brand like MINI, that screams about the driving experience, not having a manual available is wrong.

The product is currently in development so no price is currently available, should be 1-2 months. The entire system will be carbon, what is shown is a 3D printed prototype.

There is no run-in procedure or service for this car - or any Non-M BMW for that matter. Bizarrely the N55 M2 had a run in procedure and service but all the regular non-M N55 engines cars did not. So take it as you will.
