Yes its just like old video games where your character had a health bar once it reached 0 you lost a life...only you get defense before the life bar gets affected.

Minamoto takes both defense and HP books. Our top players put those and range bonus on him.

Thanks for the video and channel. I would like to know your opinion. Tomyris and Elektra have almost the same attack. Eleckra has march size but Tomyris has HP and rally size. Im in a small alliance so rally isn't a factor for me now. Would you develop Eleckra or Tomyris if you were me?

So let's say I have 50,000 troops and 100,000 hospital capacity. And someone comes along and zeroes me. All troops go to the hospital. However...did those troops fight till their defense gave out then went straight to hospital...or did they fight till their hp went out, then hospital. Another question is what if same thing happens but instead I have 150,000 troops. Did those extra 50,000 outside my hospital fight for as long as the other troops? Of course this is more on the defense side of things than attack.

Yeah bottom line is the evony battle mechanics leave a lot to be desired...I guess we are led to believe that when the battle finishes and a troop is wounded and going to the hospital..if the hospital is full gets infected and he dies?

if the troops more then your hospital capacity they get deserters after deserters they get to troop souls and then they get killed

but what about monster hunters, not PvP gens? isn’t defense more important for them? monsters don’t usually kill your troops, so i pick defense to have less wounded troops 🤔

Hey but why killed troops always go to the hospital given there is enough room for them? If all their hp gets taken down shouldnt they die anyway regardless of hospital capacity?

Hey Manuel, I guess we don't really know what happens in battles as the developers don't give us direct answers but I would assume some troops get injured and run away and get dragged to the hospital to be repaired and some are either too brave and keep fighting or too slow and get chased down by enemy cavalry :)

Hey Genghis, thanks for the video. I saw in it that you showed a Minamoto with ranged troop attack skill - I cant attach the ranged attack skill as it says, the general had already had the skill at a higher level. Maybe you know why? Cheers, Martin

You can not attach Attack skill to Minamoto...It is the only downfall of him.

So, defense is almost like having a shield, and HP is like your health or energy in a video game? Once your defense is gone there is no protection for your HP. It's almost like your bubble is your defense, and your wall is your HP if it were possible to attack and reduce your bubble. I've always wondered what the difference between the two is, and Evony does a terrible job of breaking it down. Then I got conflicting information. At one point I thought defense only mattered while you were defending. I need to temporarily join another alliance that hits B9 and higher bosses all day, so I can get my Prestige up.

Hey how are you? Nice explanation. However I have a different idea about how the hospital works for both attacking and defensive positions. I might be wrong but I like debates so we learn new stuff. I think that when we defend, and wether we lose or we survive as castle but we take a lot of damage, we have access to all of our hospital capacity to be collapsed first with our Highest tier troops, after that we have deserters and troops souls according to our holy palace level and after that we just have death troops for all the remaining ones. But my idea is that the mechanics for getting wounded while attacking are completely different. I feel that let’s say you don’t walk with your hospital but just some tents. I feel that all of our troops that were damaged to the point of exhausting defense and hp are initially killed, all of them. After that we get some of them turned into survival and others into wounded according to our medical research, and that’s noticeable in the battle reports. I also think that evony is a game based on several rounds or turns during pvp and I think that the attack stat needs to overcome defense stat from the enemy side in every round in order to get access to reduce the enemy hp in the exact amount covering the difference between attack and defense, and I think that the reduction in hp accumulates after each turn until the troop gets out of battle, and to me that troop will become wounded or dead depending on the mechanics applying wether if it’s an attack or a defense based on what I explained in the first paragraph, however I think that is resolved after the complete fight is over. I think this theory makes sense since I ran some simulations with battle turns based on range and speed of units (not considering attack/defense/hp) and I got to the conclusion from that angle that cav battles against both cav and ground troops might take one or two turns because of the very high cav attack, but fights between ranged troops and ground might take many many turns because of ground’s very high defense and hp but also very low attack. I also checked that if you are defending and your ground troops attack is enough good, your ranged troops won’t even join the battle since your ground troops will decimate the enemy attacking ranged troops in less turns and because of that, your defensive ranged troops will never enter in range. I checked that from my reports, having seen many defenses won with my ranged troops not even joining the battle. I’m not using the ranged troops range bonus book though and for now I’m using Tran hung dao. Ok, just wanted to share some thoughts and I look forward to some comments or feedback. And another thought.... I think that when we attack we always need to bring siege units but very few with one goal only... to get the attention of all of the defending siege, so this way we provide one extra turn to our ranged troops to enter in range of cav and to do the job. I think that siege units are settled in a way that they will attack the furthest target within range first, and since machines are the slowest ones they will be the first target in the distance, and they will create the diversion that we need.

Yes, I agree..I always bring atleast 1 troop of everything...I believe in setting the range of the battle just like in Evony 1...and on defense I always make sure to have atleast 1 of every trap as well.

I don’t have any refinement targeting that, my axe and Thebes dragon are 3 siege attack and one ranged attack and my ring is 4 siege attack. I followed your advise on that one 😉. Your channel is too good having very very good advise 👏. Back on the ground troops thing I think that’s not only attack but also number of troops. I’m k34, just moved from 33 a few days ago and I hold 900k T13 and the same amount for T12 ground troops, and between 50k and 100k for all of the remaining layers. ✌️

You spoke very well, but what you had to say doesn't make any sense. The only good testing metric in the game is world boss. Everything else is a matrix of calculations unless you can repeatedly hit the same keep with the same everything (which means no traps). With world boss, if you add +HP you can do as much as 30% more damage. Your statement that 1 HP missing sends them to the hospital doesn't fit with reality. I cannot say definitively how defense and HP are related, but I can say that this explanation is wrong according to how the game plays currently.

HP important on range and mounted, defense is more important on ground than HP. talk to magz and get a second opinion but im pretty sure this isn't totally correct

Yeah, HP is important everywhere...just depends on the setup...most people including mags now are buffing HP mount on defense...but this video was about how HP and Defense work together for one single troop to decide the victor in the battle...it was not about which troops HP is more important than another troops HP.
