Good Review... I notice a bit of wording that might confuse viewers. AC is not 5Ghz, but does depend on 5Ghz. Your point about it not having 5Ghz is a good point and important for many users. 2.4Ghz supports B, G, N - and with N, in theory it can provide around 600Mbps connections. Often lower end devices like this only have adapters that support 72, 150, or 300Mbps. (So if you were connecting via N to your router, this is why the higher speeds might have surprised you.) 5Ghz supports A, N, AC and other new specifications and variations. The main difference between N and AC is how many channels are used for the signal, with AC capable of 160MHz channel width support, thus providing more bandwidth. (Historical note A was a competitive class to G, and like G is only 54Mbps, but it uses the 5Ghz frequency. The XBox 360 WiFi Adapter supported A and G, and could connect to early N 5Ghz routers because of this.) PS The keyboards on many tablet 2-1s in the sub $200 range are always a bit crappy, even if it working right, typing on it probably would be torture. It is often best to get a case/cover with a stand and invest in a $10-20 bluetooth keyboard, which will even type better. I tend to recommend this class of device to users that primarily want a Tablet, which with the Active Stylus works surprising well even as an iPad /w Pencil competitor for far less money; and are capable of drawing in standard software like Photoshop as well as handy for Ink drawing and note taking. Making these tablets good for new/budding artists and children, without worry of breaking a $600 tablet. The performance test seems off/odd. Multi-core speed cannot be more than the core count times the single core speed. I suspect the device was under load with a setup background task possibly while running the single core test, or it has an odd Battery profile or piece of software overriding the power profile from Windows. Again, thanks for putting the work into this review, I was curious how well these specific models performed and looked, especially the screen, as there are many low end tablets with bad displays with little viewing angle.

These tablets often have a low power limit set for the CPU to balance heat and battery life, but it's possible to raise this power limit in a lot of these machines (sometimes in BIOS, other times in software) to allow the CPU to reach its full rated speeds. Naturally this comes at the cost of battery life and higher temperatures, but since this tablet's so cheap it'd be interesting to see if it's possible to hit the CPU's full potential.

I would expect the speed test to be that depending on the speed paid for. 2.4ghz band supports a Max of like 450-600 Mbps. If you don't have a faster internet connection than the 2.4 band allows, a lot of times you will benefit more from a 2.4 GHz band. The range on a 2.4 is much higher than 5ghz is. You may get much faster speed when in same room as router but it will drop pretty good as you get multiple rooms away with a 5ghz. Interference can effect the results as well.

Nice little machine. For the price, you can't really ask for more (except for the dock, they should've made a proper dock connector, not a magnetic one). Good for basic browsing and media playback on-the-go. Or some emulation as you've demonstrated. Regarding WiFi: 5 Ghz is NOT just for 802.11ac. 802.11n can run over 5 Ghz as well and it does run faster than over 2.4. Depending on what WiFi module this little hybrid has (I see a "crab" chip in there, so some kind of Realtek), it may be able to connect to 5Ghz 802.11n networks. USB mode is fine, even over 2.0 you have 35-40 MB/s of bandwidth, that chip won't be able to saturate that. Most (if not all) Atom hybrids use SDIO which is even slower than USB. Would be nice to get Android running on this little thing. Not sure if a standard build will do as these tablets sometimes require kernel and init script tweaks to get everything running smoothly.

I bought one of these. The left speaker never worked. Exchanged for a new one, same problem. Take note that the touchpad uses the generic Microsoft HID driver (the tablet refuses to use any other driver I've found), so you cannot disable Gestures, which makes using the tiny touchpad frustrating as all hell. It interprets most of your movements as a gesture, causing windows to minimize or initiate unintended screen zoom. I have read from a lot of sources that this 2-in-1 breaks down quickly (typically within 3 months); Taking this video into account and considering that the two I received both had bad speakers , I think it's safe to assume evoo does not have any sort of quality control. Their website is a joke. I managed to find a customer support number, but calling it sent me straight to a prerecorded message stating that I was calling after business hours ( I was not ). I'm going to try calling them one more time and see if they can address some of the issues I've noticed, but after that I am returning for my money back. They just aren't worth the hassle.

Not a Gamer but have been looking for a low cost usable tablet. Thank You. I need one with at least ONE USB port. Checking on the Grumps and Complaints it seems the 32Gb is not enough to Update windows ? By the time you have Windows 10 on the thing you don't have much to work with. SAD.

I am laughing at 1:46 when crooked Celeron sticker mentioned. How can a manufacturer put sticker as if without any jig fixature

I've had a very similar one (branded differently) and while it did have a different way to attach the keyboard (using hooks instead of magnets) it had the same pogo pins to make the connection ... in theory, thing kept cutting out all the time and so it was best relagated to live as a tablet for various hacking projects. Would not recommend

I had a similar laptop made by Evoo and it didn’t even last me six months ran okay for about a month and a half before it started overheating for the least little thing I would do and the feet on the bottom slowly peeled off and the fingerprint scanner stopped working after one windows update after that I got me an iPad and have been happy ever since

Please try Linux and Android x86. Try installing debain 10 with MATE or Arch with MATE and keep it minimal. Also try Kali (this might make a great portable hacking device). For the throttling try replacing the thermal on top of the CPU and N/S bridge with real CPU paste and connect it directly to the copper or if you can a RPi heatsink and connect that to the copper. Also give us a look in the BIOS.

80$ is good, considering in Europe you're going to pay 80-90€ for a USED windows 10 intel atom z-series tablet and 2gb of ram.

Thanks for the video, it should help a lot of people avoid this one like the plague! Even at this low of a price point the quality is incredibly bad and not worth it.

Does using batocera or Linux increases emulation performance or not? I'm thinking about ps2 games

The Thinkpad x220t is better. You can get it for like $60 on Ebay. But the screen does not detach and is heavier.
