In a recent collaboration with final mile Ops, we’ve loaned an E-cargo bike out to an Evri courier in the market town of Driffield, East Yorkshire.
E-cargo bikes have long presented as a sustainable delivery solution compared to traditional vans and cars. However, most designs were severely limited by their capacity. The EAV bike is a little different - it has a 2m3 capacity - that’s pretty similar to a small van, and good for upwards of 130 parcels.
We will be measuring productivity and emissions over a 5-week period and benchmarking that against the courier’s usual behaviour using his car.
Early results show an increase in productivity of around 13% and an incredible 89% reduction in CO2 emissions showing a very real proof of concept that could aid in the decarbonisation of our final mile.
