Seriously. They are one of the most underrated bands of all time. They are the Radiohead for their generation. Its insane

Couldn't agree more. They hit that perfect spot, accessible yet interesting. In a just world "Duet" would be as popular as any Coldplay ballad.
@johntate65374 жыл бұрын
@@mattb9708 I know. Such a good song, like so many of their others. Similarly, I don't know, for example, of any song by anyone that is anything like No Reptiles. How many bands or individual singer-song writers are there that write songs that are unique? If there is any justice, they will at least be recognised in retrospect like people like Davie Bowie or Bjork - absolutely unique, brilliant, endlessly self re-inventing artists who have made a unique and irreplaceable contribution to music. [I don't feel like I've used the word 'unique' enough times in this post yet: unique!]

What a gorgeous song this is. Not an immediate 'banger' in the vein of Desire or Can't Do from the last album, but this one builds like an epic. More like White Whale. Can't wait for the rest of the ablum.

So much talent. So much talent. So much talent. The way EE are underrated is the proof to me that people are deaf. And they don’t know it. Unfortunately this will be forever to me the lockdown song. Released at the height of my loneliness despair. So there will always be some sadness to it.

What strikes me is how much EE's music has become much more about the vocals than the instrumentation. His performance is THE draw about this song. Wonderful.

@SaynaTheSpiffy3 жыл бұрын
Really? I'm surprised by this comparison. How so?
@Gysklar3 жыл бұрын
@@SaynaTheSpiffy The chords, melodic movement, and melody may be technically different, but they both are using the same toolkit in achieving a very similar vibe. Both songs are heavily composed of ethereal synths that have a driving and pulsing undercurrent the whole time that make the songs both otherworldly and distant yet powerful and impactful all at once. They just really seem like sister songs that connect the band's past sensibilities with their current. Both songs distinctly match the era they're from but both scratch the same itch and vibe. II feel t's a really cool way to compare where they are now with where they started by looking at the two songs which really seem to me to be aiming for the same sonic target.

My taste for music is very broad and I absolutely love this song. I am also an audiophile nerd so am delighted that this version was produced so much better than the "studio" version on YT that has such unbearable random distortion toward the end that it seems like a production mistake and not an intentional artistic addition. If it was intentional, so be it. If it was a mistake could someone possibly re-upload it? Just my two cents. Edit: Just re-listened to the studio version and it appears they fixed the audio. Thank you whoever you are. Now there are two amazing versions. (But if I were to nitpick I would ask that the level of the insanely good and haunting vocals on this video be brought up relative to the music track). Just being a bit of a pedantic twat I know. I'll see myself out. Keep making amazing music.

While Higg's vocals and EE's lyricism are certainly the main draws for the band (IMHO), I feel like this is the first time I really, really want an instrumental version for an EE song. Higg's voice is beautiful/unique - don't get me wrong - but this is a particurarly excellent showing from Robertshaw/Pritchard/Spearman. If there's a new album in the works, I'm super excited to hear that acerbic EE wit paired with a renewed emphasis on instrumental only sections.
