Try dolphin kottu (not real dolphins, it’s just the name), isso wade, umbalakada wade, milk rice, roast paan with dhal curry and pol sambol and chicken curry, Negambo pork curry. Some of them are not street foods but you should give it a try.

Also, you were supposed to eat String hoppers with a curry like "Kiri hodi". Typically deviled chicken you have to eat with SL fride rice (unless you take it as a "bite" dish while drinking alcohol), .it's actually a side not by itself. Really glad to see you enjoying SL food and thank you :)

That Deviled chicken! We would love to try it, but maybe a bit less spicy! LOL The Egg Hopper.. Butters would love it. It was fun to watch the chef making it. So cool they have different toppings. The bowl reminded us of a Dosa! The chutneys look great.

You have missed jackfruit(kos) and raw jackfruit curry (polos ambula). They are delicious with rice. Jackfruit is similar to finish your hunger as rice. That Roti looked so amazing, and love the flavor profile you mentioned. Seems like a lot of their food is full of flavors! The lamb dish.. looked great too, and glad that Nick really enjoyed it and that the lamb was tender. It's nice when you can get the gaminess out of wild meats. Your dessert is definitely unique, and it does look like tofu! Helmi looked a bit confused, but glad that you liked it! Glad you got takeaway for later! Hopper is one of the most difficult food to get right for the first time. In my case for the 100th time 🤣. You have to get the batter right and let it sit overnight and all but once you got the batter right then it's so easy. Ah also the pan. Better try a non stick pan, otherwisw, sometimes if there's sth slightly wrong with the batter you can't get the hopper out. It sticks to the pan and burns

@@nickandhelmi You're warmly welcome here. One plain hopper is normally 10 rupees (0.052 usd) one egg hopper is 30 rupees (0.16 usd) so they are cheaper here in Sri Lanka. You'll be able to eat as many spicy side dishes as you like when you're in SL.

Every Sri Lankan first try the crispy bit . That's the most delicious. We use lunumiris (which is a combination of onions,chille,peper,and a little bit of lime) to eat hoppers . Happy to see you both enjoying our food .
