Don't blame him for leaving? In situations like those, the country needs their leader to lead its people and defend their homeland. Yet he ran away like a cowardly dog. Look at Zelenskyy, even when Russia is in full scale invasion of his country, he does not run away.

Your fiance should've not went there, but what had happened, happened. The US invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of waging war on terror. As an Afghan, there are my questions: Who was behind the blitzkrieg takeover of provinces (by the Taliban) in the months leading to the collapse? Why didn't he leave his power to other Afghan rulers, when he was asked countless times, during the peace talk? (Given that he ran away later anyways and it would have helped the peace talk) Why didn't he allow the people to get armed and resist, despite countless calls from the people all over the Afghanistan? Is his humiliation (a doubtful assumption) more important than the humiliation that the people went through after his flight? Lastly, if he had stayed, chaos wouldn't have been as big during the collapse. He was just a coward with no power, hence no reason to stay.

From all i know, in my opinion, he cannot compare with the ukrainian president. He blame that he lost support of his peoples, but this is the result of being corrupt. The fact that president Zelenski have men and wemen wiling to fight by his side, tells a lot about this man. Another problem with his clameing is about that he left because he was concerned about his honor of not being humiliated (in his opinion it was the most important) and i was expect he to invoque the reason of saveing lifes of his defenders and the avoidance of bloodsheed, but he didnt. In the end it is visible how hard is for him to denie the afirmation abut his escapeing whith all those money, how he became inchoerent and to be honest, who would risk to take that incredible sum of money in a helicopter, in the bank accounts era?

The lens of our lives can never be removed, but there are plenty of people who have taken on another culture. There were a good amount of military and State officials who committed themselves to this task. It is not their fault they were ignored by Americans (and other nations) using "America First", transactional, short-term gains. That is a fault of letting the Executive have that much power, a 4yr term, trying to score points for an election, or to cement their legacy. The world knows it can wait out one of our presidencies. We have to debate the merits and make formal declarations through congress, but congress also has its faults that need to be cleared up to safeguard democracy. *EVERYONE IN COMMENTS* who are defending/praising this man, you are being played for a sucker simply by an educated man who knows how to speak. You should ask some Afghans what they truly think of this man. I will provide you with but just one example. There was not much infrastructure when we essentially chose this man believing him to be the best of bad options on who to put our support behind during Afghanistan's first election. All the while countless decent folks around the world understood just how bad the Afghan ppl had it & sent billions in aid. Without the aforementioned infrastructure & not much in the way of processes in place, our gov't handed over most foreign aid to the newly elected govt in Afghanistan who was headed by this man. Enough foreign aid poured in that it could potentially help a large swath of the populace. Howrever of course only a tiny percentage actually reached the ppl it was intended for. This man's brother, who he put in place is on video removing suitcases of aid money onto a helicopter, headed to the be externally deposited into the famiiy's off shore accounts. I rem one Afghan saying something that I choke up just repeating... He said, "ok I understand corruption exists & temptation will be too strong for some ppl, but could he(speaking of this man's brother) not have just taken enough to be super rich & leave some for the ppl, did he really have to take it all?" Out government even acknowledged his brothers corruption & utter scumbagness but basically fell on "working with these ppl are our best option". Don't be fooled by how well someone speaks or how convincing they can be answering one set of questions. Honest ppl can come off as liars & vice versa, all depends on how articulate someone is. Do some research on the person in addition to hearing their answers. When it comes down to it, many Afghans chose the Talibans brutality & extremeness simply because they have seen the alternative to be this man, his brother & similar ilk. And I, nor ane else one can blame someone for choosing a shit sandwich when the options are choose between this shit sandwich and that shit soup.

Can't blame him for leaving and his situation is not even comparable to Zelensky, this man did not have his army or the people of his country on his side to fight with him and support him, what good would it have done if he had stayed except him being killed or tortured in the most brutal way? As long as the Taliban still exist, Afghanistan is a lost cause.

He is sick for abandoning her fellow Afghans. He has NO RIGHT to say he will die defending Afghanistan and leave the second things get bad. He claims that he doesn’t want to be the one to sign over legitimacy to the Taliban but he never had to. They couldn’t force him. The only consequence of him not signing it would be his death. His death would’ve made him a martyr and sent him to Jannah but he didn’t care. He was selfish and put himself over his country.

Well 50 years ago Afghanistan was a lot better off because they were self governed. Then about 40 something years ago almost they were having a war with the Soviets. Who stayed about 10 years. Then when the Soviets left the mujahideen which became the Taliban was in charge for a while. Until America went over stayed 20 years then left and now the Taliban is in charge again. So the cycle is repeating itself.

He is knowledgeable but he does not have the heart of a leader. If he had the heart of a leader, he could have brought many changes. He may have even stayed and face the hard times to come. When you take such a powerful position, you are taking a huge responsibility and you must be ready for it. He did not have any of those traits. However, he is a smart person. I would definitely keep him in the government handling some aspect of governance or economic interests of the country. I would not give him any authority over people though. Let's hope your country will be invaded and ruined by another, and then we will see if you will respect your President turning slave to the invader. You have no honour respecting a traitor

Obviously, he didn't form a reliable core of the Armed Forces that he could depend on. He mentioned the defense ministry was empty when he called on them. The whole armed forces just folded up that quickly? He said, he doesn't want to engage in a never-ending civil war. During the Korean War, the South's forces were bottled down at the southernmost part of South Korea. They held on until they regained their strength.

Cant blame this man but can blame the military and people for bending the knee and not willing to fight for a brighter future. They had everything they needed to stand up to the terrorists but cowered out.
