Rare behind-the-scenes access to the Taliban spokesman as local Afghans confront him about the failed economy and broken promises of women’s and minority rights.
With unprecedented access from Kandahar to Kabul, the Taliban’s main spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid opens the doors to the presidential palace. He takes us to the centre of the Taliban’s transition from rebel fighters to the nation’s leaders.
Charged with orders from the Taliban’s reclusive supreme leader, Mullah Haibatullah Akhunzada, Mujahid faces the stresses that come with governing a divided and traumatised country of 40 million people. In Afghanistan, human rights are under attack and the economy is crumbling.
Powerful businessmen, bold Hazara leaders and a fearless woman activist confront Mujahid about the Taliban’s many unfulfilled promises. He knows the stakes are high for an administration which is not formally recognised by the rest of the world.
Taliban Palace is a documentary film by Michael Healy and Najibullah Quraishi.

I lost several friends over there flighting with the Taliban and now I agree.....Peace. There was no reason for us to be over there for that long. unfortunately most of the population in Afghanistan remains very tribal and poorly educated and this reflects in their attitudes towards gender roles in society. Decades of war and poor government has not helped the situation obviously. At least they have some kind of peace and stability now. Even the Taliban will evolve over time to be more progressive. I hope the civil activists in Afghanistan will keep working with the Taliban to win their rights for a better society. As a court registered official interpreter, let me advise you, it is against the professional code to intentionally substitute words for what is said, and you do it throughout the video. The speakers clearly say Islamic Emirate of AFG and you substitute Taliban for political reasons. Those words have different meanings. As an interpreter, you need to interpret accurately, even if you don't like to hear what the speaker says. Also, what is with the annoying music?

Islam is a religion of justice not equality. But women are equal with men in terms of reward, remaining steadfast in faith and doing righteous deeds, in enjoying a good life in this world and a great reward in the Hereafter. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Whoever works righteousness - whether male or female - while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)” [al-Nahl 16:97]

In Islam there is absolutely no difference between men and women as far as their relationship to Allah is concerned, as both are promised the same reward for good conduct and the same punishment for evil conduct. The Qur'an says: And for women are rights over men similar to those of men over women. (2:226) The Qur'an, in addressing the believers, often uses the expression,'believing men and women' to emphasize the equality of men and women in regard to their respective duties, rights, virtues and merits. It says: For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise, for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward. (33:35) This clearly contradicts the assertion of the Christian Fathers that women do not possess souls and that they will exist as sexless beings in the next life. The Qur'an says that women have souls in exactly the same way as men and will enter Paradise if they do good : Enter into Paradise, you and your wives, with delight. (43:70) Who so does that which is right, and believes, whether male or female, him or her will We quicken to happy life. (16:97)

I lost a cousin in Afghanistan serving for the war we should have never been in with them. At the time, I hated the taliban for what they did to my cousin, but as I’ve gotten older, and really understood more, they had every right to hate us. If ANYONE or entity evaded the United States we would want them dead to protect our country. But in reality, the government manipulated my family after my cousin died saying terrorists killed them, and not people trying to protect their land.

Librals & Kafirs say woman not being able to show their beauty to unknown man is oppression 😂. In reality, In a liberal society Woman has to pay 50% of house bills, 50% of children's expenditure, pay for 50% of own food, children’s food husband’s food etc. Pay 50% tax to the liberal govt. Has to Take care of 2 duties Earning for family, taking care of family. And when Islam says, You don't have to take 2 duties just take 1 and keep your money. Islam becomes oppressive 😂. The reason they mock us is because we weren’t the one's to mock them first.

I am Pashtun from Pakistan and I understood the language Zabiullah Mujahid spoke in the documentary. I have noticed that the reporter did not mention exactly what he said, especially in favor of women. For example, at 6:13, he stated, 'First, we need to create a safer environment for women.' He emphasized that there is no hostility against women but rather a focus on the dignity and respect that Islam teaches us towards women. The reporter completely omitted the part regarding women's rights. It appears that Al Jazeera either missed it or deliberately chose not to mention it.

When i was a younger American and didn't understand 9/11 and who the true evil of the world was, i saw the Taliban as backwards crazies, i even used to shoot the taliban head targets that were popular for a time. Now that i know its my own country thats the scourge if the earth, i really admire the Taliban. Im impressed they beat the USSR and the USA in wars, the only tribe in history to achieve such a feat. I honestly wish they had a presence in America, we need something with meaningful essence and standards, all America has is mindless consumerism.

This does not show what some of the Taliban have been doing to our brothers and sisters in Christ. This spokesman's face is not the face of every Taliban. Even if this man is not lying, the Taliban have not been able to control their own men. There are many who want it back to the old ways of death and destruction. But our Father in heaven knows His children and brings them safely home as martyrs. May the love of Jesus fill every Afghan's heart. Amen.
