Most of the Afghan Air Force pilots didn't perish; many evacuated or were coerced into working with the Taliban, with some willingly doing so due to ethnic ties or past alliances. Reports suggest that the Taliban now have complete control and surveillance over the remaining pilots stranded in Afghanistan. These pilots have allegedly been threatened, along with their families, to comply with Taliban demands. Khial's observation is accurate: pilots were targeted before August 15th, butthe primary focus is the NDS officers and ANA special forces. On another note, the documentary on the Taliban's 2021 takeover fails to capture the gravity of the situation, itz just about the life changes experienced upon entering US soil as a migrant. Credit to Colonel Khial's American comrades for their concern and remembrance of him, contrasting with their government's approach.

Those who are saying Taliban did not kill any pilot must be a lie. These barbarians would not spare anyone who has killed one of their own. Obviously this pilot served in battlefield and had his apprehensions and did leave Afghanistan and moved to the USA. But what makes me sad is that USA, after using Afghani military professionals like in this pilot, could not take care of them. There must be a program for Afg veterans in the USA which should allow them to transit into the American job market easily. This pilot went to the same schools for flying as any other USA military pilot does and there must be some relaxation. As a Pakistani, I am sad that we had some part to play in takeover of Taliban and our country will be paying price of this huge mistake for years to come. Lastly, best of luck Shinwari. Hope you do good.
