@@brentdavis3102 And in the second clip, it's a damn miracle the punt made through. If the block was even a bit better, the Rams would have had possession and possibly a defensive touchdown, and if the defensive line was even a bit tackier the punter wouldn't even have a second chance. The real heros of the second clip are the linemen who prevented such things.

"From heck of a disaster to disaster to excellent play" American commentators have no idea. We call this a baulk in AFL. He pulled it off brilliantly and sucked in the blockers.
@lazyidiotofthemonth
@lazyidiotofthemonth Жыл бұрын
That was college football, and lower ranked teams at that. Secondly the second play was an illegal kick, the kicker cannot take more than seven steps before punting. Thirdly the college player was a 28 year old man playing 18-22 year old lads.
@Scuppun
@Scuppun Жыл бұрын
@lazyidiotofthemonth The kids have to learn sometime. It takes exposing them to this style of play to give them experience. Nothing wrong with that. If they want to move up,they have to step up and play smarter. Otherwise, how will they learn?

You actually are allowed to kick the ball as many times as you want as long it doesn't pass the line of scrimmage. It can only cross the line of scrimmage once.

This video doesn't show it but the refs picked up the flag after the play and allowed the second kick to stand because it took place behind the line of scrimmage, so the commentators were wrong on this one.

Different sports, different rules. There are FAR too many head-on tackles in NFL for "no armour" to work. One yard is often too much for the defence to accept. One yard this way or that doesn't make much difference on that five-mile long field you've got! They tried playing American football without any padding or helmets way back in the 1890s -- you know? back when men were men. So many players actually died on the field that they threatened to ban the sport. If they got rid of the armour now, the same thing would happen. Stick to comments about a sport you know something about!

@@DieFlabbergast My point was more that in AFL, bulk isn't as prioritized as it is in NFL. Speed and agility is typically favored as can be seen in the drills they run, whereas in NFL, in anticipation of the scrum and tackles, the...defense...I think has to be very strong. But this has its downside as it means they are too large and bulky to run the ball down the field. The positions are set in stone. In AFL, it is far more fluid. It's like comparing the river to the rock. The river will flow around the rock because it cannot move the stone.
