I wish these interviews would talk about the bigger picture: This problem of Putin using nuclear weapons also greatly concerns China, India, and many other nations. *I don't believe China will tolerate Russian use of nukes.* Such a move will wreck the things China cares about most: world markets, trade, China's reputation as a Russian partner, stability and harmony in society (recall they are already having Covid problems and chaos internally), and other problems too, such as fallout raining down and causing panic, food and water hoarding, and so on in China. India is in a similar boat, and that doesn't begin to talk about the EMP from such an attack, that could extend into EU and NATO nations, poision air and water, and also affect Russia too. Putin can threaten, but I don't believe China or India will put up with nuclear attacks, as they will suffer.

I think much of what I’ve seen on this question misses the real danger. The use of nuclear weapons in war has fallen under a taboo that for the first time in the history of warfare, has worked. Nuclear weapons have not been used in anger since 9 August 1945. If it happens again, Pandora’s box is open, and it may come to be seen as just another weapon in a nation’s arsenal.

They were not used in anger, jus for the record. They were used as a measure that absolutely was th alternative to dealing with an all_out last ditch effort by the Japanese, in which tens of thousands of their youth would have been sacrificed and, possibly, similar numbers of allied troops would have been sent in for who knows how long. Formerly classified has been scoured for decades, by numerous key analysts, and there's damn little argument among those in th know.

The ones with most to lose in the case of a nuclear war will be those who have not had a chance to live. The newborns. The Children. The Adolescents. That younger generation whose aspirations for the future will be suddenly truncated. In contrast, people in their late seventies or eighties have little time left anyway. So a nuclear war would just bring something that they have been seriously contemplating or expecting at any moment-death. Putin himself, and many of his top supporters have already lived their lives. So it's understandable that they view things much differently from those who haven't.

It'd be wise for NATO and the West to listen to Zelensky, not to strike Russia but to take these warning pretty seriously. I don't see Putin using any form nuclear arsenal except if he commits to a suicide. On the flip side, Ukraine and the West must take advantage of the confusion in Putin's camp by supplying Ukraine more decisive weapons.

If he did go nuclear in Ukraine, it would be bad for Russian too. Nato would likely get more involved. Also, the land that has been contaminated would then become difficult to travel in. My understanding is that NATO has equipment for soldiers to be able to travel through those lands for a period with little harm. Russia would probably have less capability to do so. Also, if the winds are blowing toward the north or northeast after detonation, the fallout would blow back towards Russia.

@@johncaze757 That's true, but it's NATO countries that are supplying Ukraine with equipment and cash. Also Biden has already said that if Putin goes nuclear, that there would be a severe response. One possible response is for some NATO countries to get more involved (possibly directly).

@@t.soares1125 than wouldn't it be best not to escalate the the war into another world war?
@t.soares11252 жыл бұрын
@@johncaze757 Of course nobody wants that.But if Putin chooses to use a tactical or small yield nuclear weapon on Ukrainian soil, it cannot go unanswered. If it goes unanswered then other nations with nuclear capabilities will realize there are no consequences if they choose to go nuclear. It's the level of response that needs to be questioned. And it's clearly not an easy decision on the part of US or other NATO countries and Western allies. The least escalatory response would be to condemn it, increase sanctions for NATO and the US to move units into a more aggressive posture (including nuclear). But that response still lets him get away with it. Another option would be to do the above but to also have more direct involvement from the US and possibly NATO allies and take out Russian targets in Ukraine. Decimate their capabilities and possibly even pull back to let the Ukrainians finish the job. I can't imagine that the US would choose a nuclear option. Again, not easy decisions. Nobody wants a world war and much less a nuclear one.
