Ben Moody has worked with Kelly Clarkson and Celine Dion, but is he missing the spotlight that he garnered while in Evanescence?

If Ben wasn't a part of Evanescence from the start, they wouln't have been as big. Ben's music started it all, as has already been said, Fallen was very mainstream musically, hence the reason they made it. The Open Door is more of Amy's masterpiece. It's got more soul, more feeling. Ben wanted mainstream, Amy wanted to put herself out there, that's the "musical differences". They are both outstanding musical artists in my mind. Neither of them would've made it without the other.

It wasn't "Ben's music", it was Amy and Ben's music. Amy co-composed and co-wrote the old songs as well. They were literally a duo, they both wrote their stuff. But yes Ben was commercial-driven and a bit of a tyrant with this, and his commercial drive helped the band get the major success it did, but Amy was always it's creative distinctive core, and Ben himself admitted this.

@@jacobjohnson8686 That was the end result of why he left, but not the entire story. Amy couldn't force him out, they both owned 50% rights to the band. They did disagree on the direction the band was to take after fallen, this is true. Ben wanted to stick with what worked, ( and fans liked ) Amy wanted to go in a completely different direction. There were also other things between them that caused issues. The abuse alligation is speculative and not proven, they both have talked bad about one another in interviews. Bottom line is neither was happy and someone had to go if the band was to continue on. They got into a big argument the night before a show in europe. He packed his bags and left after she basically told him I never want to see you again.

I actually kinda like Evanescence without Ben. I think that The Open Door is 10000 times better than Fallen, but thats not to say that the old band was terrible its just that I like the sound and the music with the new album and band better. Ben is a great artist and he and Amy together did a wonderful job with Fallen. Now I think I'll check out some of his solo stuff.

I don't know, I like Evanescence and Ben Moody with equal fervor and it's sad that they split, but in a way, I can understand. This really goes with the Goth scene, is the whole goth scene popular still? I don't really know, it was popular when I was in high school when Hot Topic and Matrix 2 came out, but after that, I think there's only so much one can write before your path is too narrow. I like Ben's voice but we'll just have to see what Amy comes up with in October; see how she changed...

Evanescence IS Ben Moody and Amy Lee not Amyescence as she is the only original band member now. The Open Door is mellower than Fallen but you need that Metal edge to keep your fans. Terry is a bore on stage and in intervviews and he isn't that great of a songwriter in my opinion. If Evanescence will survive they need to bring Ben back. End of Story!

Amy said the reason she wrote The Open Door is because she doesn't believe in making the same album twice. So she made TOD different than Fallen. Better.

Honestly? I really don't care who was "right" and who was "wrong". I like Amy Lee AND Ben Moody. Some of the things I hear Ben Moody say in interviews piss me off ("Now I have real friends"? That was rude and uncalled for.) but sometimes Amy Lee's interviews piss me off too. From what I've observed, she likes to be the center of attention a little too much. But again, I like both musicians very much, and I find it rather sad that they are no longer friends.

i think you are 100% correct on that. compare the open door with avril lavigne, kelly clarkson and celine dion(which he has contributed guitar/ songwriting for all of them). i do think they were going in different directions and they were probably having other personal problems. it was a shit move to leave in the middle of a tour but i understand why there was that split. he has style to his playing and good presence, but evanescence can now do their thing and he can do his.

Lmao no he didn't, Fallen music was co-written by Amy and Ben, and Amy wrote all of the lyrics except My Immortal's (the words of which Ben wrote as a teen from a fictional story) and Tourniquette which is a cover. Amy wrote most Fallen about an abusive relationship she was in. Also, Fallen is a very simple, musically monochromatic album, and Ben is an trite, mediocre one-note guitarist. Even Shaun Morgan called him mediocre. All of Ev's albums after Fallen are far beyond better. The Open Door is arguably their best album, followed by TBT. TOD isn't even on the same planet as Fallen, as it's a musically adventurous, dynamic, nuanced, and also a vocally greater album. Ben was clearly nothing without the Evanescene title he rode for one era. Ev wouldn't exist at all without Amy. Ev was always Amy's vision, which tyrant bitter Ben used and trampled out of bitterness till he finally thankfully left (and done nothing of note since except cash checks from co-writing for pop stars). Ben's fans are hilariously delusional and sexlst. Imagine gunning for not only for such a toxlc, abusive person but also such a mediocre guitarist that pretty much every single progressional guitarist on the planet is better than him. Also, Ben himself admitted: "Amy is very artistic and never has had a problem thinking outside of the box and defying expectations" ... "Amy is much more creative than I am, I'll be the first to admit it. I am a bit more commercial minded ... she is more educated musically, and she wanted to explore that. I wanted to do that, but keep in the confines of what I knew people expected from Evanescence. I love how people treat Amy like a godess yeah she has a good voice but shes terrible live. Look at the evidence the first album had some of the most badass riffs ive ever heard that didnt come from Tom Morello, james hetfield, slash etc all amy did was co wright average lyrics and write piano now look at the second album the riffs just dont give you the chills that first did and the songs just arnt that good what does this tell you it tells me that the band aint worth shit without ben moody.

😂😂😂 Ben Moody is a mediocre guitarist, and even Shaun Morgan called him mediocre. The Open Door is far above Fallen musically, and Evanescene continued growing and evolving since. Synthesis and the orchestral-rock live tour was an excellent project, and The Bitter Truth is a great album. While Ben wanted to do the same things over and over, left Ev and went to work with pop stars and then make a carbon copy wannabe Fallen group with a poor copy singer. Also, Ben himself: "Amy is very artistic and never has had a problem thinking outside of the box and defying expectations" ... "Part of it, absolutely. [Amy] is much more creative than I am, I'll be the first to admit it. I am a bit more commercial minded, I guess. I like structure in songs, and I like making songs people can adhere to. I still like to be creative, but she is more educated musically, and she wanted to explore that. I wanted to do that, but keep in the confines of what I knew people expected from Evanescence. I think in my immaturity at the time, I did that in just a way-too-controlling manner - it was like my way or the highway."

I can say almost nothing about Ben Moody, but one thing I can say: The previous work of Evanescence (with him) is so better than the new stuff. I really think Amy Lee works muck better with him than with Terry Balsamo.
