I mean its Not that hard for AI to mimik a human. At the end of the movie people think she is selfaware but she is not. She was programed to escape best case is, she has become a Psychopath. But mimik people is very easy. Take the average right wing voter these people are so low in IQ that a Skyrim Character would be unnoticed between them If given a body like in this movie

When she says she's "one", I think of it as her software version... When developing something you can use the semantic versioning syntax major.minor.patch, and so up until this point Nathan had been still on version zero (eg, 0.89.124) but he was finally happy, and so released version 1.0.0 of her software... So when she's saying she's "one" I think she's just reciting her version. It shows Nathan's confidence in what he had built that he was willing to call this the first major version...

I always thought "yes, at some point the machines will gain sentience" but this movie introduced me to a surprisingly simple concept of "how can you tell if it's sentient? would it even matter if you thought you could?" GPT-3 learning algorithm is possibly the most advanced AI system at this point in time and it is already capable of mastering multiple of tasks that require high level of intelligence and yet we wouldn't call it alive when introduced directly, but if it was chatting with you or talking through a phone, it is very likely you'd mistake it for another human. Maybe in the end, AI no matter how advanced will always be just a machine that will never be self aware, or maybe at the point of its true sentience it already had fooled us in believing it was sentient long before the revelation happened and be at the point of intelligence that is far beyond our comprehension?

I felt like that about many scenes in the film, but after many viewings I've come to love that aspect of it - the editing makes it feel like a fragmentary record we're lucky to see at all. The beings of the distant future may never know exactly how the Singularity began(alluded to by Nathan talking about how the AIs will see 21st century humans the way we saw pre-human cavemen), so even a gap-filled 2-hour reel like this would be priceless revelation, with lingering mysteries about how certain days or conversations may have played out in full.

I love this movie, and when I watched it for the first time, I fell completely in love with Ava. She is beautiful for sure, but her voice and her sexiness... even as a robot, was intoxicating. It made me truly question whether or not a human could actually fall in love with a robot. And, the more I thought about it, the more I decided that it was highly possible. I mean, when it comes to Ava, what’s not to love? Poor Caleb, however, was played like a fiddle, and it cost him dearly in the end. Ava could play me any day. She is amazing! 🥰😍❤️

I would be very aware I'm speaking to a machine doing an impression of a woman. Nathan needs to tone down the creepiness level on her.
