I understand and agree with what you're saying, but the family if they didn't know didn't do anything, and also unfortunately many sexual abusers also abuse family members, so if you're in that situation it's just a double whammy. 😕 I don't think anyone would want to be judged on the worst decisions any family member made, especially if it was something as heinous as this.

@@killjoyneonashes5736 I'm not sure what your point is. The point is the man in the video was saying he feels guilty for catching guys with families ... why should he feel guilty? he didn't commit any crime ... the people he caught did. you don't get my comment. it has nothing to do with the situation the family members find themselves in afterwards. And yeah they shouldn't be tarred with that brush either. But the person who put them there is the one who wanted to commit horrible acts not the guy who caught the bad guy.

@@tainii-san5879 they don't. He says they don't in the video. Did you watch the video at all? Or are you just getting triggered for the sake of being triggered? He specifically says he felt guilty about catching a solo dad who's kids had no family to go too and their dad was the only one holding it together. He felt guilty for forcing the kids into foster care. But the dad is the one that did the wrong thing, not the guy who caught him. Maybe you should watch the video.

I used to work with SO's (sexual offenders) as well as murderers, thieves etc. and by far the paedophiles were the worst of the bunch. They weren't remorseful, remained in denial, lied and connived, and all of them were re-offenders. We had a guy who would go out at 8am and come back at 3pm, tell us he's "been at a mates" or was shopping all day, when in reality he'd sit outside of schools. We couldn't do anything (both literally and by law) as they were allowed outside unrestricted (besides school premises ofc). Vile creatures, and I went in open minded for the record, thinking these people could be rehabilitated.

This isn't to excuse the actions of the people who are caught, but it does mean that the people caught are mainly stupid opportunists and that police resources are having to be shifted away from horrific CSA perpetrated against very young children to these less serious cases. I think one of the few things society can come together to agree on is that once somebody harms a child, theuve crossed a line where theres no return. Paradoxically I wish things were a bit different to how they are now regarding stigmas and mental health, so that people who havent comitted such a heinous crime but have had intrusive thoughts or something that might lead towards that end can get help more easily. It might reduce this fellas workload and protect a few kids but I dont know if itll really do that much good. The truth is that _fewer_ children will be saved as a result of this man's actions, because the modus operandi of these 'hunters' is to entrap opportunists, often on adult dating sites with a bait-and-switch technique on age (as Stinson Hunter does). And then when they present evidence of the victimless crime to the police, the police are required to act on that evidence, which diverts resources away from more serious crimes against real children. So no, this is entirely counterproductive and not praiseworthy at all.

Paedophilia is worse than murder, imo. There are sometimes very good reasons for taking the life of another person but there's _never_ an excuse to do bad things to a child. Both crimes result in a life being destroyed but the child has to carry that trauma which often results in self deletion, addiction, homelessness, mental illness etc.

9:33 I remember an ex-convict KZbinr, @JessicaKent , who said something really lucid about this: "it is possible to explain a murder. It is not possible to explain the s3xu4l abuse of a child" (probably not her exact words but something similar) To give some context to the comment, she was talking about the social dynamics inside prisons, where a person can have a story, perhaps even a true story, that justifies even if morally the attack on a abuser spouse, or the attacker of a loved one, a situation of life or death, etc. There may even be more complex reasons that have to do with the perpetrator's circumstances and past. Of course only a fraction of murders can be explained this way, but absolutely NO attack on a child can be explained in ANY way in ANY case. Taking this into account, my opinion - very personal and certainly not an expert one - is that child abuse should have a *higher* penalty than murder, given also that in certain cases the person guilty of murder may not commit another crime in his life, but a offender pedophile will ALWAYS reoffend.

I doubt it since I was pre-internet but it then makes me think of all the children they have watched. When you've been in CP it's very surreal. It's best not to think about it. I got a court letter one year saying that the film and photographs of my abuse were found digitized in someone's collection, and they were made sixty years ago. If someone hasn't already processed it and healed from the trauma such a letter could be devastating. If you should ever find out that your trauma was seen, take comfort in the fact that at least it prevented someone else from being hurt because they were caught.

According to leading expert Michael Seto (who studied CP for his 2014 and 2024 books), 90% of CP on the net and dark web is old material (from decades past) posted by the FBI to entrap users. It's a way of catching the 'low-hanging fruit' so as to boost arrest and conviction rates and make law enforcement teams look good, and it's even easier to do now that these images are catalogued by hashes. So anyone featuring in CP from pre-Internet days is more likely to crop up in cases today than people who have featured in more recent CP, which hasn't yet been catalogued and ploughed into the FBI's repertoire, so to speak.

@@mellie4174 There's no need to be hysterical. It's a perfectly sensible question. So there is almost certainly an entity to which one can write to opt out of such notifications.

He told us that the people involved in this type of work, especially those who have to go through evidence (from chat logs to photos) have to take breaks to watch standard, vanilla p****graphy every few hours, otherwise the time spent looking at photos of children in those scenarios can be so traumatizing they can't lead normal sexual lives. It's like those war vets who get PTSD from fireworks, but instead you're looking at your pertner before doing the deed and all you can remember are the children. Anything like a position or dirty talk phrase could trigger a memory of the cp and suddenly your partners face is that of one of the victims in your mind. I know it's a world-wide problem and I truly hope to see more people like you out there in the future because it's the only way these individuals will be caught. I understand the funding for the police and other institutions is at an all time low and therefore they can't always afford special units for this type of thing so to have folks like you who do this out of your own pocket, is something I hope more people will help fund. As a child who was trafficked, I hold you in the highest regard. I know what you do isnt perfect and I understand not everyone doing this type of thing goes about it in the proper way, emotions can run high and get out of control, but I will forever support it. Without people like you, Id likely never have lived to have the life I have now. Thank you seems like such little words but I dont know what else to say.

I worked in a school as a TA and twice we had children whose father's were caught on a livestream by paedophile hunters. That's why I like this chap. The ripples of such actions go a long way. Both times the families had to move house to different areas. Moving house is traumatic enough, but losing your life partner, bread-winner, friends, clubs etc. In one fell swoop and tinge that with the shame the perpetrators actions attach to it, it must be devastating.

4:20 Pedophilia isn't an orientation... it's very much closer to fetish (although not the same) than anything else and usually has to do with power dynamics and imbalances that make the pedophile feel powerful and in control. This, depending on the individual, can become remissive if they seek help most times.
@samc9133
@samc9133 3 ай бұрын
Frankly it amounts to the same. Pedophilia is clinically a paraphilia (as was considered to be true of homosexuality for a time) - the proper definition of paraphilia just being an atypical sexual attraction. I think folks take umbrage with calling it an orientation due to moral and societal concerns, which is fair. In context of the conversation though, his meaning is pretty clear - in broad strokes, one cannot change what they are attracted to, whether that be attraction to a gender or an age range. Language does matter here - I've certainly heard some people make the claim that calling it an orientation is normalizing it - I disagree on the grounds that CSA is CSA is CSA, and will always and forever be morally evil due to the lack of consent involved and the damage to a young human life. I don't think any broad sector of society will ever normalize that, though there are groups who believe that LGBT groups are doing that (largely they are not.) The one thing that is worth discussing if we're talking about normalization, is a separation between an offender/intended offender and a pedophile non-offender. Some people are comfortable with say, murdering every pedophile, even those who have never offended, even those who voluntarily undergo chemical castration - I'm not comfortable with that level. For that viewpoint I've been called a pedo or a sympathizer myself, even though I frankly would be in favor of the death penalty for offenders. What I want is to make sure these people can get therapy/medical treatment and admit to professionals that they are pedophiles, so they can be treated in order to prevent potential harm to children, while continuing to prosecute and catch offenders before they do harm harder than ever. *Edit to add* Hope this doesn't come across as an attack on you! Not my intent but I care deeply about the subject as my mom is a survivor of CSA.
@C0mfyest
@C0mfyest 3 ай бұрын
@@samc9133 it did come across very antagonistic, thankfully I read everything and towards the end I understood your point! And let it stand that I am all for treatment and help of possible offenders for prevention of CSA, as well as a normalization of taking care of people instead of telling them to go die far away when they themselves raise this kind of flag... When it comes to actual offenders I get conflicted because, to me, a life is a life but the crime they commit is VERY heinous and will likely ruin someone else's life... so it's a MUCH bigger discussion than i'm willing to have on a KZbin comment xD Hope you have/are having a great day!

In Germany there is a project called 'don't become an offender'. There paedophiles could go and search for help before they have commited a crime. You are right in saying that you can't change the affection. But there have been therapies which helped those people to cope. Because there were some people who are paedophiles and very disturbed about it. One man got to the public and exposed himself, never have done anything and struggling horribly. He only wanted help. With the rehabilitation topic, There is a difference between someone who is attracted to children and someone who are actively hunting out children to abuse them. A person making contact with a child to coerce them into anything IS a predator. They are a criminal. That not “mental health” or anything it’s a conscious choice to damage someone for the rest of their life. Someone who is actually out trying to contact children has stepped over that line and is not deserving of rehabilitation at all Where it’s complicated is imagine a kid who was groomed as a young child, abused and from a broken messed up home and then as an adult they realise f**k they have that attraction in them and they don’t know what to do (since a lot of offenders have previous sexual abuse). To say those people BEFORE they step into the world of being and offender aren’t deserving of any help is sketchy and doesn’t really help anyone. Plus if they’re not deserving of help then why not offend if they’re already the worst possible thing they can be? But an OFFENDER is an offender. A predator is a predator. They’re animals by that point and they don’t deserve to be treated with any respect.

I think about the ages of these predators. If someone is in their 40s now, and they spent more than half of their lives victimising children, how can they be rehabilitated? They probably believe they weren't doing anything wrong or that they wouldn't get caught. We're seeing prosecutions now of people in their 80s. They always knew this was wrong and prided themselves on being above the law because noone would believe children. Obviously, we should help people who are worried about offending, before they offend.
