I think Stroman's general message of show some intensity is something fans have been asking for over the last couple years.

Steele’s is completely warranted. The cubs have had some really good pitching performances from their starters and they get like 1-2 runs from the offense. 2 runs doesn’t win a lot of games and the starters have kept them in games for the most part. Us Cubs fans know the bullpen is rough. Offense needs to wake up and get some runs to make up for the chance the bullpen might blow up in the later innings
@TheGreatChrisB
@TheGreatChrisB Ай бұрын
Exactly, it's about showing respect. "Wake tf up" or "wtf are you doing" is saying you know they can do better. "You suck" is just negative, saying they suck and you don't expect anything better from them.

You're missing earlier in the Steele inning where he nabbed a comebacker to the mound and froze the runner between 2nd and 3rd. The infield then got him in a rundown and produced no outs. Inexcusable. And they allowed him to advance to third on that rundown. Literally lost an out and gave the Brewers third base.

Pete Crow-Armstrong can end up being the best fielder ever. No exaggeration. He was calling for that ball. Everyone needs to just get out of his way and let him cook. Also, in that inning, the Cubs had a guy picked off but Morel and Hoerner botched the run-down. It’s just been a demoralizing year for the Cubs. Total botch job. Botched toe. Frank Reynolds.

I can understand some baseball fans that call this sort of passion "anger issues", but it's more than that. For these players, baseball is all they know since they were kids. For them, it's how they make a living and they want to perform their very best in order to stay in the league as long as they can. When they try their absolute best, the adrenaline is just pumping and that passion shows when your in the zone. I'm okay with showing passion, but I do admit there are times when it can be overly excessive and Stroman's part here is 50/50 -- whether you know the context or not.

Anger issues. Whoever said that have no idea what they’re talking about. You didn’t even show the botched rundown on top of the other plays. The plays were awful for little leaguers and I’m a Cubs fan. Steele was being a leader there and it NEEDED to be said.

I feel like these situations get overblown, as long as Stro talks to the guys on the bench/ after the game and clarifies that he was just trying to get some juice flowing, was pissed that a run scored, and that they’re all cool, I’ve got no problem with it. But your teammates have to like you, if they don’t, problems are on the horizon.

I feel like the only time I ever emoted on the mound outside of a point and clap or a "lets go!" for a great play was pitching a shutout later in the season against a team that cut me during tryouts when I was 17. My brain was already on to solving the current situation and next batter. No use lingering on a bad play and showing guys up is asking for them to press or say FU and make another mistake.

I obviously never played at the level you did, but you do see pitcher yelling at their position player teammates all the time, but I can't think of a single time I saw a position player get upset with a pitcher over a bad start or bad relief outing. I understand that a pitcher has a lot more riding on them every time they go out there, but it does seem kind of one sided. Pitchers seem to expect this sort of perfection from their teammates when they themselves often find it hard to throw strikes, throw quality strikes, restrict hard contact, etc, all of which makes the position player's job harder. When you say the dugout thought he took Vladdy's speed for granted, did you mean that he didn't transfer the ball quickly or he just didn't put enough mustard on the throw? To me it looked like he turned it fine, the throw could be considered a little slow, but nothing egregious. It was kind of just one of those slow developing double play opportunities that sometimes just don't end up working out.

The folks crying about Steele, waiting until he's in the dugout to say anything, have never played at a high level. The error could cost him his job or bonuses. Millions of dollars are on the line. Especially for the borderline journeyman guys.

Why do MLB fans dislike players showing emotion on plays? Tom Brady and Payton Manning yelled at there teammates all the time on the field. I remember Tom Brady yelling catch the damn ball you could hear it on TV. 😂I just think it helps grow fanbase if players could show more emotion. I like it happening in the moment it is better. Waiting until your off the field just makes the guy yelling look crazy. As long as the emotions doesn't turn into insults. WAKE UP ,THROW THE BALL, WTF ARE YOU DOING OUT THERE all good.

I think it is rooted in the fact that the game is so old and the way people thought back then were different. Then it just stuck like a genetic trait. That being said Hockey and Football/Soccer is old to. Idk, it could be a lot of fans got the bat stuck in their butt.

I'm stro's example: So if you screw up at work, you're cool if the boss and your coworkers start yelling at you like that, AND in front of customers? I doubt it. You just don't do it. It's called handling things like professionals and acting like grown men who know how to manage themselves. You go yelling at your teammates like that and they'll start hating you, you become a clubhouse cancer and next thing you know, you're packing your bags and wondering why. You gotta keep your cool and handle things later.

Obviously I'm not a guy on the team so who cares what I say, lol, but: I'm not sure I get the distinction form in the dugout vs on the field. I mean, what's even the difference?? Now, I think both looked pretty bad, but if I had to pick one that's worse, it's the one in the dugout. When it's on the field you can at least say it was just an emotion reaction in the heat of the moment. When you start flaring up after the fact, it's calculated and shows you've been hanging onto it. He had to at least get through an additional batter after that, lol. Also, Steele's looked significantly more intense/angrier.

@@Fly-The-W Nah, I don't think this feels very honest. I think you're just a Cubs fan who is equally upset, lol. He didn't have "much more reason." Both players saw their teams blow games. And I know that the Cubs were in a division fight earlier in the year and have fell out of it hard. But the Yankees are still in the thick of a fight on their side too. It's not just losing teams who have 'the right' to get angry.

Torres has become the Yankees fanbases’ scapegoat. He gets the blame for everything, no matter what. It was a good transfer, and even statcast and other sites had it labeled as an above average transfer. It was a slow hit ball and an awkward underhand.
