I don't believe for one minute that Robyn wanted the "one house". She is cagey and saw that Christine and Meri weren't really for it, so she supported Kody to be the "good wife" knowing that it would never happen with opposition of the other wives. Also, I think that Kody was only acting like he was trying to mend his relationship with Meri so he could keep her $$$ in the family and available to him and Robyn.

Robyn's mom and dad were LDS monogamists. She was 9 when they divorced. Her mom then became the second wife of Paul. The two families lived in different states. They knew who each other was but did not live or function as one polygamous family. Effectively, they were separate monogamous families. At 35+ Robyn still had not lived polygamy, she thought that she had, but actually had not.

This is why I keep saying "Robyn NEVER lived polygamy " and still hasn't! After marrying Robyn, the other marriages basically ended. They became becareful platonic realitonships. The only reason they moved from Vegas was because Robyn could not allow Dayton to go to school without her!

Meri did not trick Kody into marriage. Kody is a follower not a leader. Kody was craving the approval of other men. It was his dad, her dad and the men in the AUB who coerced him. Meri loved him, she did not trick him. Meri was on the fence about monogamy vs polygamy. She chose polygamy because Kody wanted it. He decided it.

At this point Kodi and Christine were not having any intimacy, not even hand holding or touching. It is easy to see why Christine wouldn't want to see Kody and Robin being all loved up when she wasn't even getting her hand held I mean really that's like torture

Oh but poor Kody complained he could not openly show affection for princess Robyn. Kody can complain about not openly showing his legal wife affection while he spent a decade giving the cold shoulder to three wives. Kody said in a TV he answers to a "high calling". Guess that calling does not include how he treated Christine, Meri & Janelle.

Christine was not asked to take care of Kody and Robin's children, there was suddenly a nanny. So Christine was passed over. but the idiotic thing was that Robin doesn't work outside the home and she can raise the children herself. So while Robin doesn't bring in any money, she does rely on the family's money. So who should pay for the luxurious cat Robin?

I feel terrible for Meri, being a mother of one, wanting equal treatment, barely having time to bond when they decided to keep looking for wives. but not getting any actual love from Kody because they had to live this lifestyle, the idea that the move to flagstaff is because Robyn wanted to be with her son, she didn't want him away from her. Unlike his older adoptive brothers and sisters who were told to move out. So everyone having to move again and everyone unable to live together. It's no wonder she's so guarded with the life she had before Kody and during this life she had. If they stayed alone together-Kody may have left her because he wanted kids. Meri isn't innocent but to me she has the most trama, just on the principle of the lifestyle. Three years and no child yet, three years and he has her sister-in-law as a partner, then Christine enters the family, finally she gets a child, but she can't stand her sister wife ex sister in law, she's the legal wife for the longest time, it's her only prize until 2010, or so they get another person involved, younger, still able to bare children, the hope for a friend who then betrays you. Meri right now is doing what's best for her by moving on, which is what i got from her talk on camera with Koday that Robyn was trying to handle. Meri had to come to it herself and say she was done trying to be part of a family and man who no longer wanted her.

I hate to disagree with anything either of you say. However, I must disagree that they would have lived in one house, if it were not for Christine. Robyn did not cheer for the house. As a matter of fact, it would have been 10x more obvious that he is always in Robyn's wing. She refused to move into the Utah shared home, although she did not work and the family had to pay her rent. Christine was the only one who was honest. Janelle was just desperate to get rhe family back together, and she was lying to herself that this was the solution.

What is unique about polygamy is not good and what is good, is not unique. Im glad Melissa pointed this out! Hey Melissa and Sam! Love your videos! I'm fascinated by polygamy - always have been. Would never want to do it though. As far as a bit into Meri and Kody's early relationship, in their book it goes into that people in the church group (which Meri was raised in her whole life) never noticed her until Kody came along and started dating her. She admits that she was a wallflower. Kody talks about that he fell in love with her because she listened and respected him. Apparently at some point, not too far into the marriage, Meri became assertive. Kody even had a license plate on his car that said "Petruchio" or shrew tamer. I can't remember which - it's in the book. Point is, I THINK that's why Kody felt tricked. He thought she would be a shy, quiet, submissive wife and she turned into the opposite, or always was the opposite around people she knew well. Bonnie (Meri's mother) was the principle of the AUB school that Meri and even some of the Brown kids attended. Bonnie was very no nonsense and domineering, at least when dealing with the school. No idea if she was that way towards her husband, but we know from Meri and Janelle's past that Meri was raised in a home where opinions were voiced loudly and strongly. Honestly, she must have hid that a bit from Kody in the beginning, or maybe she was just following him around totally love struck. Twenty years later I'm still pretty love struck by my husband so I wouldn't fault her on that one. Keep the videos coming! Sam - thanks for all the inside info into the FLDS. ** Edit I'm also not a Robyn hater. I just think Kody fell head over heels in love with her and didn't hide it. **

If Robyn wanted one house he would have gotten it and the others gone along like they did with the move to AZ or left. On a different parcel of land. It was not buildable on this plot of land. It was 4 lots in a subdivision of single family homes. This is not the man to accept financial or real estate or property information from. He has creative financing. He wants to turn 4 lots into 5. They would have done that already. Does he think he is brighter than everyone else? OMG. The one house was simply content. Their content always revolves around moving and real estate. Kody should host a house hunting show on TLC.

Robyn yelled at Garrison for telling Sol not to hit. Remember Maddie and Mykelti often went to Robyn’s during courting and after to babysit for Robyn’s kids. Before Robyn as in all big families the older kids were responsible for the younger kids. Robyn would not want a big house where another mom or a big sibling might tell her precious child something. No one wants a committee to raise their kid. But don’t engage in polygamy.

I’m not saying Janelle did not sacrifice- she was the main breadwinner for a while. However, she was very vocal about loving being a career woman and not really enjoying being at home. Christine was not only the child care, but also the cook and educator. Janelle said in the first season that she would go to a movie after work and I thought was wild considering Christine did not seem to get those kind of breaks. I think polygyny appealed to Janelle because she had the best of both worlds while Christine felt like everyone else’s needs came before hers and her children and if she protested, she got a lot of pushback, and maybe not just from Kody. I was surprised that Janelle said she was surprised Christine had such inner strength and resilience during Truly’s kidney failure. I was surprised that she underestimated Christine because I think she had the HARDEST job with hardly any appreciation or support. Remember when she had to study for the real estate license test and NO ONE was helping her? I think Christine and Janelle became as close as they did in Flagstaff because things had become so acrimonious with Kody that Janelle felt like she had no choice but to take a stand. Had she been willing to still cover for Kody because he was throwing her some scraps I don’t know if they would have become best friends. Meri thought she had a best friend in Robyn but as time went on and especially during COVID, I think it was heartbreaking for Meri to Rrealize that she was way more invested than Robyn was in the relationship and that besides those children, she was alone. And the children is why I think she stuck around as long she did.

I just wanted to remind you both how much I appreciate and enjoy your unique perspective on the Brown family behavior. I know their religion (supposedly) plays into a lot of what they do, but inwardly, I definitely think the OG3 leaving their marriage, their covenant, perhaps even their faiths--that's a HUGE deal that not many KZbinrs (great as they are) highlight. Why? Probably because they've never been in a cult. Much peace and happiness to you both.

Three of Robyn’s four kids in school were in a perfect moment in school to move. One was entering college, one entering 9th grade first year of high school and the other entering 1st grade if on time if not kdg. Janelle and Christine had Gabe, Gwen, Savannah, Ysabel either in the middle of high school or for 8th grade. What a year to move. I changed schools middle of 2nd and then again for 8th and the 8th grade move was the roughest. And Truely was like going into 3rd?

They would have had another kid if not for the nights she wasn’t getting time… I think later on before his kid(s) out of the house they would have divorced and he would have gone for a younger model and done a do over with a few more kids. Meri would have been actually free in her early 40’s. Maybe late 30’s and young enough to have another with a new partner with reproductive assistance or with step kids still at home. Tragic.

But I thought that in “the principle” was that the wives could only reach the highest level of heaven through their marriage. If that is one’s belief then a wife might feel trapped, spiritually, in this marriage.

You take everything on TV as being real? They do have some sort of loose script they follow. They've admitted that.

I'm sure Merrie's infertility plays a big part in the marital problems and her resentment of the other wives.

What a farce that show has turned in to. One problem with the show continuing on is not just that they are no longer polygamists, but also most people cannot stand Kody and his behavior. He is totally an unlikeable human, so there’s that and it is a huge turn off!

Islamic plural marriage guarantees each wife her own sleeping, bathing room and kitchens. They can be attached or separate.

Being too young when you married and that’s what doesn’t work out. It’s just a big excuse we you met at 17 married at 18 and it lasted 58 years. It would’ve been longer if my husband had not died from cancer. It’s obeying God and keep falling in love with your husband.

Sometimes I think that you two are just too nice to see how awful Robyn and Kody are. You make excuses for them and give them so much more credit for being decent than they deserve. Keep watching though, and you will see. Great channel you have here, so interesting
