In the beginning Jim Jones tried to emulate Father Divine and his Peace Mission movement. As most cults go Father Divine never saw outsiders as a threat. I have a lot of thoughts here. 1. Being told where I have to go to church seems crazy to me. Each person has a different way of delivering their message, different personality, different vibes, etc. You should feel comfortable at church. 2. Normally I think you guys do a really awesome job of not being judgmental and pretty impartial. This video I kinda felt like you were pretty defensive towards your Mormon faith, even though you’re not LDS anymore. 3. Most churches do provide information on at least a quarterly basis on their financials. 4. As someone who used to underwrite commercial insurance for churches, in a majority of states church leaders are mandatory reporters. I don’t know Utah and Arizona law specifically, but most states require this. A mandatory reporter is someone who if they suspect abuse or receive an allegation of abuse they must report to the police, even if it’s a false allegation, or they can face criminal charges as well. It’s fine to have an internal policy of reporting up the chain as well, but law enforcement needs to be involved.

The followers of William Branham are very similar to the Jones and Jeffs cults. Although Branham is dead there exist factions of his followers that believe Branham's words above the very Bible the promote as the basis of their faith. Some teach that he coming back to kill a bear, others believe that he was/is the second coming of Christ, while others believe that if you don't follow the prophet that you will go to hell, and they all believe that his words were God's word. Churches have separated marriages, un-fellowshipped believers because they married another race, command that believers have no fellowship with "the world", they inhabit the private family's lives, and I'm sure they do a lot of other weird shit. I almost got sucked into this religion, but somehow I turned away from it.

My husbands mom and sisters and some brothers are still in and they came in our lives about 6 months ago and have even welcomed to their house and has took our baby over night to watch and has came and visited so its like they have more freedom but him mom is still very critical about her kids doing anything other than work and cleaning so idk. I think polygamy could only work if it is friendship, but not actual love. If one's heart is not fully invested, one might be able to do it without jealousy, but not the marriage I would want.

Thanks for being more candid in your feelings and expression in regard to polygamy. It comes across more balanced and obviously you both have critical thinking skills. IMO, there is just too much room for abuse within this religion (as was clearly seen by Warren Jeff's abuses)

It’s interesting that he’s so smug about the mainstream church’s position, saying that not only is there no proof, there actually contradictory evidence. The exact same thing is true about the transfiguration of Brigham Young. It takes a real leap of faith to believe that happened too and yet the mainstream church believes that. Then there’s the multiple first vision accounts, Kinderhook plates, the Book of Abraham, DNA evidence, etc etc.
