If only half of our police people were like you....this country would be a much better place, especially for kids! I was 9 when I walked into a police station and told the desk sergeant my daddy was doing bad things to me. I left in sheer fear and terror as he said he knew my daddy and was going to tell him of my filthy lies! If only someone like you where there I wouldn't have had another 2 years of hell. For all the kids you have saved....Thank you.

Jon is brilliant (and great interview - long rambling edit at the end). His beginning with Britain's colonialism, its collapse, how it -re-adapted and the systemic corruption which underpins all of this as a backdrop to his focal point of campaigning was fantastic. It truly is inspirational to see him go in this direction because at one point (probably several points), the far-right wanted him to engage in their shenanigans and bankrupt discourse but he is too intelligent for that and too compassionate - his compassion is one of his defining qualities in fact. We must protect him at all costs! I hope he writes a book and gets it out (glad to hear that he is). Edit: 45 or so minutes in, Jon is quite reductive about the causes of crime as he narrows it down merely to child abuse and the host on the left did mention poverty and other factors. At the same time however, I come from a broken background and have a sheet (convictions spent now though, woohoo!). Pretty much every person I grew up with came from broken homes and pretty much all of us have been involved in crime in one way or another. I wasn't sexually abused and my "area" or "the bits" had different social circles and mine was fairly benign - we just wanted to chill and hang with the girls, but there were other circles of people who I would classify as complete psychopaths and they came from terrible backgrounds and so you have to wonder what they went through. And so even though I initially thought the argument to be quite reductive, it makes a lot of sense looking at my background, the abuse I suffered, mostly in my adolescent years (physical, psychological, emotional but no sexual abuse) and the same with most of the people i grew up with and I know that plenty of them were sexually abused although its not the sort of thing any of us would talk about when smoking joints and quoting the Friday movie. One other thing pertinent to this is that where I lived, some of the really violent guys would have the option in their defence of joining the army in order to get their sentence suspended, because they needed canon fodder! I know that at least three people who got this deal and they were already heavy duty - imagine when they get out, trained to shoot and handle weapons, all that stuff and already capable of incredible violence. I think the deal they got with the court would be up to GBH (not fully sure on it but suspended sentences for violent crimes that would've got them jailed). I'm talking about the kinds of lads who would go on to become enforcers for the big local families and as for the families, they definitely abused their kids. There's one thing that isn't shown in the Guy Ritchie type movies and that's "bumishment" which is basically male-on-male rape (and female in certain circumstances that are too gruesome to be put here). I got told by my Mum's seriously abusive partner who was the one who manipulated and threatened me to get involved in crime (drug dealing) about one of the men from a notorious family taking in turns raping a man to "teach him a lesson" over something. These guys had kids who I was friends with so all this rambling makes me thing Jon is onto something and he was a cop so he's talking about the proles and lumpen-proles and that brings it back to poverty: no jobs left due to Thatcher's neoliberal reforms and so we looked up to the gangsters but they were brutal. My Mum's boyfriend was a gangster and had me selling drugs and he battered the fck out of my Mum and I got it but nowhere near as bad, and he was abused as a kid. I was offered my first gun at 14, a sawn off shotgun for £200. Jon was onto a good point there and it got me thinking, hence the long comment but there are obviously a multitude of factors involved. Fantastic interview by the way.

@@the_local_bigamist Well said, especially regarding the rightwing trying to pull him over. Jon’s far too smart and decent of a bloke to allow himself to get sucked into those waters. Thanks for the comments.

I don’t understand what’s happened in the UK with sentencing and the police, spoke out about CSA from S.A. from a family doctor as a kid for and various other victims in our trial against “dr Anthony collis” , he went to prison. The CPS said 20 years ago about people posting their kids online and how unsafe it was then , when they took his computer he was in chat rooms talking to others like him. They had photos of kids, this was almost 20 years ago, we don’t know if they dismantled the ring but the police took action they were proactive in our case. I pray for Justice for all victims of abuse and support for their healing 🙏🏽in Jesus name, amen 🙏🏽
