Russia spent years supplying weapons Bashar al Assad and when he was criticized for it, Putin replied that they were just selling weapons to the "legitimate government of Syria" and that the practice was "in full compliance with the norms of International law". Ukraine's government is way more legitimate than Syria's regime will ever be, since Zelensky was elected w/ 73% of the votes in 2019 elections certified by OCSE, PACE and IEOM as free and fair, so Putin doesn't have the slightest right to bother us about arms sales to Ukraine..

I have to give a lot of credit to Bill Browder, he's been warning us about Putin for over a decade, and he's been completely vindicated. He's spearheaded international efforts to squeeze and sanction putin (and his ilk). He's what civil society is all about, he deserves a medal.

We have to reform democracy, stop political campaign of millions of money from corporations interest, change their names for public servants give them minimum to medium wage maximum, take only people who's interested in having no private finance and disclosure of how much they make so we have control and keep a watch of corruption, stop with the circus debate on parliament, we vote for the issues we face, stopping misleading the public about right and left wing politics, remove the party system. We should be able to choose the most smart public servants to work for the country and strengthen it as never before. All the money interest aside. Get the big corporations to pay their fair share of tax, change for better. It has to be a revolution. Attract only people who feel interest for making a better country and governance and put aside money interest, those on money should go into business. It would be like creating a new system of governance. This thing would be like putting a limit on what government body representatives can earn max so limiting their power and we could turn the wheel round either ways easily when at the same time have more say on the things that affect the country. Those on gov representatives unsatisfied with the system could donate part of their wealth to keep on government if they like, but that would have to be on the watch so not to exceed a certain limit and also their work ethics, not to say the least our vote. It can be and should be fairer to everybody. Democracy is dead the way it is, doesn't serve us the majority and we're approaching more uncertain tension times as never before with climate and wars, we've got to change to survive. We've got to get ready to form one only government in the world, so we can cease all disputes on imbalanced economy, resources and environment. It might come as an ending conclusion to the chaos, but it has to start from a point with a medium or big society on this planet so for this we must start developing as the vision for the future as soon as possible.

Does he have dual citizenship with Russia? I do not know. Trump certainly traded secrets with RUSSIA in the 2016 ELECTION which proves he is a TRAITOR. Plus, we have seen and heard about all the criminal acts he has committed throughout his life in business connections, he rarely pays his contractors for their work. I guess he thinks he is entitled like many rich kids growing up today, they have that attitude. Plus, we know he is criminally involved in many Transactions that took place while he was the 45th President!! When DOJ is finished with their investigations, the world will see and heat all about it!!!! Bill Browder is one of the most experienced, if not the most experienced and insightful American expert in the field of Russian government and politics. Russian opposition politician Kara-Murza is also one of the most experienced and astute Russian politicians. Moreover, they have known each other for a long time, share political views and are supporters in the political struggle. Both have outstanding intellectual abilities, are very influential, have wide personal connections in the highest echelons of the world political elite. Bill Browder, in fact, publicly stated that Kara-Murza informed him of his voluntary intention to return to Russia in order to become one of the new state political leaders of the new Russia ... That is, from the point of view of Kara-Murza, the state system of Russian power is at the very end of its existence. As is known from history and "traditionally instituted in dictatorial systems" in the vast majority of cases, when the government changes, the new government always replaces the old one only from prison, since there are no legitimate opposing parties and forces at large and cannot be. I assume that this is the real reason that Kara-Murza voluntarily came to Russia to get into prison, and from there to the very top of the new political power in Russia ... It remains only to observe how accurate the forecasts and tactics of these two politicians are and how correct the tactics of their actions are.

Bill Browder knows far more about Putin than ordinary western citizens such as myself - however deeply we may have studied Putin as a person and his entourage. But initially I found it difficult to believe that his motivation is not a desire to create a powerful mother Russia covering the whole content from the western shores of Ireland to Vladivostok in the east. But Browder's insight could explain the inconsistency behind Putin's 22 years in power. First of all he continued Yeltsin's tilt towards liberal western democracy and respect for rule of law. Then around 10 years ago he completely changed his orientation and started to move Russia towards autocracy. Russia today is clearly a dictatorship without any semblence of adherence to rule of law and respect for the constitution.
@TeddyKrimsony2 жыл бұрын
That's because after 2008 the US changed their policy and stopped integrating Russia into the developed world because of the financial crisis and the change of political ideology in the US, at that point Putin started to change and wanted to rebuild the Russian empire, invaded Georgia, propped up autocrats, cracked down on opposition, started interfering in elections, sent spies into the US [illegals program] and initiated the new weapons program that designed their newest weapons.
@michaelriner11812 жыл бұрын
Take a look at the US. you have a large segment of the country affiliated with one political party that is fed a steady stream of disinformation right out of the authoritarian handbook. From the very beginning Trump has spewed false accusations.....Obama not a citizen, crowd at Trump inauguration larger than Obama`s, Russia not responsible for interfering in election, phone call to Ukraine President perfectly legit, BIden didn`t win election, Jan. 6 insurrection didn`t really happen.....on and on and on. Yet again we are hostage to Russia + OPEC. In the 1970's, with the oil embargo, we had no choice but to keep buying oil. Today however, we can buy EV cars and Heat pumps to heat our homes. There will be a need for oil and gas for a long time but by reducing demand, it means we could stop buying oil from Russia without the price of oil spiking.

The problem is, that on EV Cars, we're still reliant on China for the refinement of lithium batteries, and extracting the minerals required for battery production requires destructive mining and can't scale as much as oil & gas yet.

*If* we could switch our trucking over to a different fuel source (hydrogen, whatever), then our economy wouldn't bounce every time someone halfway across the world has a tantrum :(. We'd still get hit but, as we're seeing, when those spikes hit trucking so hard, everything gets more expensive.

The World’s Moral And Practical Obligation To Ukraine In Ukraine, there is both a moral and practical obligation, which transcends the fact of there being no formal obligation from NATO or the EU. As we know from history, formal obligations crumble in the face of reality when dealing with someone like Putin. I am not complaining so much as I am cautioning the entire world that if it is not willing to nip in the bud the actions of Putin now, we will most certainly be compelled to confront him later. And the effects of that will probably be much worse than the risk of starting a third world war now. A world that bows to the will of a bully and dictator today, will either become a virtual pawn of that bully and dictator or be forced to fight him later. As we saw with Hitler, because the world was not willing to confront him early on, the ultimate conflagration that resulted was much worse than it might otherwise have been. Just as a free individual cannot long endure the abuse and domination of a bullying neighbor, so too, the free nations of the world cannot long endure the abuse and dominance of a bully and dictator among them. Of course, the possibility of nuclear war is paralyzing, and the present fear of that happening is what gives Putin his ultimate edge. He knows this and wants the world to think he might be crazy enough to use nuclear weapons. We need to call his bluff by letting him know that we will even risk nuclear war to save freedom and democracy in the world. The world not only allowed Putin to exist but did business with him. Now humanity must pay the karmic price for its complicity. And that price may be a third world war, which might even mean nuclear war. This is a horrifying thought, but reality does not care what is horrifying to humanity. The world we create and the results of that creation are as they are. If we cater to autocrats, we will have to live with autocracy as the way of the world - or we can stop allowing autocrats to evolve and exist in the world. At the moment, Ukraine is the center of our universe. It is the focal point and pivot point for our future. What we decide to do there will determine the direction we will take to that future and what that future will be. Will it be a world where freedom and democracy become the way of the world for all humankind, or will it be a world where the dream of freedom and democracy is dead, and slavery and autocracy rule? JRB

Interesting that Bill states "that no one is talking about the price of oil", then goes on to explain the impact Saudi Arabia could have on the situation simply by turning on the oil taps and if they dont...they should be considered part of the problem. What about the US? We have the capacity to do the same, but instead we have oil fields across the country sitting dormant due to our comittment to climate change. At what point should we be considered part of the problem? Not a permanent fix, obviously, but each day that goes by we continue to allow the deaths of innocent people to simply happen...in an earnest effort to prevent escalation. Personally I fear we are beyond that point, and the world will end up more involved that we already are...unless we move quickly.
