The most significant thing to note is that "hazardous waste" is really mixed waste with a little bit of hazardous waste in the mix. A little but crucial bit that makes trucks and buildings handle it as a separate waste type, i.e. it can't be just mixed with regular mixed waste. Once you treat the hazardous waste in the waste treatment plant, what comes out is mixed waste, and it can contain all sorts of stuff. So if you use a hazardous waste treatment plant, you should have a garbage separation plant next in the production chain to separate what's left. You can make a bit of extra money in the early game by importing hazardous waste (and getting paid to take it!), treating and separating it, and selling the useful garbage types.

You can earn even more money by implementing a small incinerator instead of waste treatment plant and simply "clean by fire" - yes, you will burn all the plastic, biowaste, fertilizer and other waste in the process as well, but you save chemicals in return. All metals (and construction waste) will stay there as mixed waste so the next step in the process should be a general separation (and eventually a big incinerator if you use 1 separation building for the whole republic). But you get the idea ;)

Most time you don't need small containers stands at all. Their capacity is too small, even for "large" ones. Large containers can accumulate garbage from any type of buildings. And biological waste is the most common for residential buildings, cause in real life large amounts of sold food "parts" goes to the garbage.

I don't know if burning different waste types in the incinerator causes more pollution. It would be interesting from a pollution management perspective, but also possibly not easy for the devs to code for. I have noticed that processing efficiency affects how much ash the incinerator produces. My guess is that Burnable waste being 100% means it burns completely and leaves no ash - Hazardous waste then may leave 50% of its pre-burn mass as ash. I ran a setup with animal farms whose Mixed waste contained a lot of Fertilizer, and when I burned that it made tons of ash (30% efficient so I'm guessing 70% ash).

as far as i read about it thers a difference in pollution from burning different waste already ingame

great video, here are some extra bits: about generating waste in housings, bio waste would probably be leftover food they throw out, you only get metal and plastic waste if you sell electronics to the people, if you dont sell electronics you might only get small ammounts from immigration wich bring there own electronics with them. aluminium waste you will probably see only from helicopter or airplane production or scrapping and almuminium production so no need to dedicate containers for homes hazardes waste you might want to sort after treatment as lots of times you got metal and other stuff in there wich wont burn and fill up your dump over time. about burning waste, there are things wich burn and things wich dont, metal, alu and constructuion wast wont burn the other stuff will, plastic will burn so if you want it seperate it out bevor burning

Yup I agree bio waste is like banana peels, apple core, leftover food, out of date food etc.

@@Jitzie Fun fact: Bananas were really rare in the Eastern Bloc. When they were available, word spread quickly and a queue formed outside the store. Sometimes the inside of the peel was scraped out with a spoon to get every last bit of pulp out. Nice comment section btw.

Corrections 14:10 no, you won´t end up with plastic waste on out of an incinerator, plastics are 100% burnable 15:45 if you are not a pro waste importer, you cannot sustain a city electricity from just burning waste. The key problem is "minmaxing" - for it running 100% of time you need endless stream of waste on income (aka the pile of garbage to be growing in "in-dump" (don´t use containers ffs!), but on the other hand you cannot let that fill to 100% and stay that way due to that back-logging your republic with trash = pollution = death for all. The only way around is a precise % magic with distribution offices and big enough source of waste etc. ... in other way, don´t do that :D 21:40 no, it doesn´t. Hazardous waste going through an incinerator does NOT produce hazardous waste, only ash. Those % in the incinerator mean how much of every waste type is burnable and how much is not = how much ash it will produce. 50% at hazardous waste means that from 10t of clean hazmat you will get 5t of ashes. 100% burnable you get 0t of ashes every time. 80% plastic means 10t of plastic waste burned = 2t of ash produced. The "problem" here is that hazardous waste ingame is usually mixed waste with some hazardous material inside. Note that there are no percentage for metal scrap, aluminum scrap and construction waste - these CANNOT be burned to ashes and that´s where specialised scrap facilites comes in (or at least general separation). The point of those are they separate "x" % of the resource in the waste out and mark everything else as "other waste" category, so it then can be reduced to ashes (80% effectivity).

Nicely organized video BUT it's a bit wordy. It's more than a bit confusing to understand all of the numbers in each building description but I think I got it now. ps. I like how the South Africans pronounce "tiknikul services".

I dont get how you are supposed to get the trucks to drive on paths. They all refused to in my game.

Only trucks from technical services, construction office and emergency services can use paths I believe, you can’t use lines or distribution offices via path as far as I have experienced.

Hello. I have a game already in progress and I would like to know if it is viable to activate this update? If I enable waste management, all my cities will start producing waste immediately, and I will have no structure or vehicles to deal with the waste, correct? Can you give me some tips on how to proceed? Or is it better not to activate the update? Thanks.
@ExactChaos
@ExactChaos 11 ай бұрын
I dont think you should activate it. Waste is really challenging even if you plan for it, to try and implement it retrospectively will probably not work before you start seeing cities fail.
