This is very good information to evaluate where you are and where you want to be. I have had various businesses going back to the 1950s. (Started young). Sometimes things don't add up so we need to make adjustments or just move on to something else. Once I figured out ebay, I needed to make some adjustments to make the numbers work. Our profits are up with fewer listings by selling more higher priced items. My best advice is to find items that appeal to a large base of customers. Also get out of the mentality of buying only $1 items to sell for $10. (Do this for fun only). Get serious with $10-$20 items selling for $80-$100. A lot less work. I grew to this level slow and steady reinvesting my profits. It is easier than it looks. A vision of where you want your business to be is essential. Mike

I've sold a few items on Ebay. Not many. The intense competition is what makes me price my items low. If I go high, I feel like the item won't sell.

Thank you so very much! Most entrepreneurs online withhold this part of business like it's a BIG secret. Which is why. 90% of businesses fail within 6 months. They teach a fraction of the importance of business practices.

This is the best video on profit and sell through rates I've ever seen done. I'm an eBay seller since 2004 and I was watching this video and saying...yes,yes,yes!!I've gotten so frustrated in the last year watching videos that constantly talk about listing 100 items a day (hamster wheel like you said, LOL!) and keeping a high sell through rate. If you're selling an item for $7 with free shipping that regularly sells for $12 plus $3 shipping your gonna churn out a lot of sold items and you'll ship a lot of packages come Monday... but tell me your NET profit after expenses and fees before I get too impressed or excited. More is not necessarily more money in your pocket. Gotta know your numbers. Nobody has explained it better than you Suzanne!!

I only wish to have something similar to what you are using not a whole complete package. Thanks again!!

Yes, indeed this is the most practical approach~such a great service to lay it out for folks to see. For some, it simply comes natural to "do the math" as they go~thereby applying a formula to meet the goal. Others are more likely used to kind of winging it and hoping for the best. I think most understand the very basic "list more, sell more" concept, and what you do with this channel content is break it down into logical, manageable bites~while at the same time expanding horizons of individual sellers, within their own models. Pretty awesome stuff Suzanne=)

As a new subscriber to your you-tube videos, this was the third video of yours that I watched tonight, and I have to say yours are excellent and to the point. I can tell by watching your videos you come from a business background, and I am guessing you previously worked in a corporate environment as maybe a Business Analyst/Systems Analyst type of role based on your analytic approach to your videos. Whether or not my guess is right, I so appreciate your style of videos. They are very educational and extremely informative. As for me, I am relatively new into selling on eBay. My prior work experience has been working as a Systems Analyst/Business Analyst/Project Manager for very large corporate companies. My dream, however, is to get out of the rate race, and live on my own terms and make a business for myself. I will keep watching your videos. Keep posting. Thanks.

The best thing I did as a seller was pay 4.96 at the minimum level for a store. Then you can get almost all this already done by ebay itemized out at the Seller Hub. it even puts in the paypal fees per item in the break down.

Would love to find out about pricing. I find items in clothing that originally cost $350 plus but can't turn them over for a lot. How do you get to the higher price sell price even when you have beautiful pieces?? I just get low offers. Do you price higher? following the Title listing formula, have a store, etc. Would higher profit per item.

It is all about what the market will bear. It isn't about a $350 item will sell for X amount. You have to learn what sells. Hi I'm trying to find my sale through rate but I can't seem to find it on the ebay website
@SuzanneAWells7 жыл бұрын
You need to do the math to figure it out. How many items you sell a month / the average number of items you have for sale at all times. For example, if you sold 30 items and you usually have 300 items up for sale, your STR is 10%.
@swimdestiny6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm so glad I found your channel. I have been reselling part time for over a year now and I have 450 items listed. I really want to grow my business, and this approach makes perfect sense! I am going to take your advice and be more faithful about maintaining my spreadsheet. I have a question for you: When I am out sourcing and I'm not finding anything good I have a tendency to "settle" for items that aren't going to provide me with quite as much profit as I would like. For example, while my average profit per item is $30, sometimes on a slow day I'll pick up a top that I might make $5 on. I tell myself that since I'm already at the store looking for inventory, I might as well get something out of it, even if it's less than I would like. Should I stop doing this?
@SuzanneAWells6 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your bottom line. You have to look at the big picture, not just one item.
