You vs you. I failed the first time. I was so afraid. So crippled by what ifs. Got into the room, did my first block and knew, right then and there that I couldn't do it. I gave up during my test. I was a nervous wreck. But I knew the material. I did the studying. I read the books. The monster wasn't on the page or in the computer. It was in my head the entire time. I have 12 days left until my second try. And I know in my heart that I will not fail. Because I have what it takes. I'm far better now. I know exactly what I'm doing. And so I will pass. Thank you for this Dr.Neil. You are an inspiration to us all.

Create that "Shadow" and when that 'fear' tries to show itself during the test, self-talk it away. Fear was not invited to this party. AFTER you PASS, share your story, your mentality.

Re-watching this the day before I take Step 1 and by watching your videos I've seen so much mental growth and assurance in letting my own process have its way. Walking into tomorrow with courage, having confidence in my preparation and knowing the best is still yet to come. Thank you for everything Dr. Neil!

Dr. Neil! I just wanted to let you know that your “simple black and white basic” videos have motivated me throughout my USMLE journey. They helped me with my step 1 exam and I am now going to give my step 2 exam in 2 days. Your presence means a lot to this IMG with minimal to no guidance in a foreign country! Please remember me in your prayers. It has been a rough journey but thank you for being a part of it! 🙏🏻

Today I passed step 1. I feel that one of the most valuable resource for this entire journey was your motivational videos. The way you uplifted me was something I now realise I desperately needed. Step 1 is no joke. It makes a man out of you. And I was always iffy on it. Didn't know that if I had what it took to pass it. One of my seniors commented to me that you need to watch some motivational videos. I never really took his advice seriously until I got nearer to my exams when I was studying for 16 hours/day consecutively for several days and a stretch and at the end you are just running on fumes basically. That is when you start exhausting your last emotional, psychological and mental reserves and you try to extract whatever will power you have to carry you across the finish line. That is when you need external motivation/ motivational videos to remind you of why you are doing this and why you started in the first place Stuff related to the steps is covered in many videos and in many places but the videos that I derived the greatest value from from your channel were/are the motivational videos. Hope you read this continue to motivate me and others and I have motivated many people to do good in life because of you. I just wanted to let you know that I have passed it forward

OUTSTANDING!!! ENJOY THE MOMENT!! I appreciate your kind words. You put in the hard work and it is now paying off. After STEP 1, the process begins to 'become real' and very obtainable. Don't lose any momentum... START ATTACKING STEP 2... Thank you for the update. KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!

Sir, You are an inspiration for me. I have my exam scheduled in February. I have a constant feeling that I am not prepared even though I have revised twice and some things even thrice. I am passing nbmes with 200-210s but I feel that I don't have what it takes. I have tried to keep myself motivated through self-help books, affirmations etc. but it sticks for a while and then I'm back at the same feeling again. How to overcome this feeling.? kindly guide me, Sir. Thank you 😇

Brother it's okay everyone have some feels before the exam But the main point put in center that Trust on your Hard work and process always follow your guts you can do it I can believe that then why you not...... 🌹🌹🌹 Don't feel low you did everything before the exam that is good work before exam now why are you fearing put God first and everything will be done smoothly... Moj karo bhaila 🌹🌹🔥.
@RandyNeilMD2 жыл бұрын
Ask yourself where does the feeling truly come from... fear of being 'ridiculed', 'shamed' by others... Develop a plan and multiple ways to execute the plan... Even if I didn't get the score I wanted I had the attitude of "adapting" and then attacking in a new direction if needed towards the same goal.
@HT.1002 жыл бұрын
blessed to have known about your existence in this lifetime dr. neil. I would just disagree about the not going to sleep part, you need to have 8 hours of sleep in order to function throughout the day and you can't retain if you are sleep deprived.
@RandyNeilMD2 жыл бұрын
HT, Agree, you have a better chance for retention on the "good sleep" side of things... I just also want to emphasize holding yourself to a high standard and expectation. I believe we RISE to the level of expectation. Thank you for the comment.

Dr. Neil do you recommend going for the 3 digit score or pass/ fail? My last NBMEs (29,30) scores were 253 and 251. 2 weeks out, but not feeling very confident and I am losing my motivation, feeling very burnt out.
@RandyNeilMD2 жыл бұрын
Goal 1: PASS the exam, whether it be tomorrow or next year. I believe that since the test is going PASS/FAIL that the emphasis will be placed elsewhere. Pass the exam before having grandchildren. :)
