Things I've learned because of ASMR: 1. How to sit down correctly. 2. Rocks on wands help medical health. 3. Doctors love sandwiches. 4. How to allow the neck to be free. 5. Balancing my head foooorward. 6. Fight 8. Fight 9. Fight 10. Sets of triangles are called triangles 11. There are a LOT of weird ass people out there. 12. How to sharpen pencils. 13. Which store to go to if I ever need a navy suit for war. 14. Making people realize there was no #7 on this list.

Dr.Gill i know in this video you don't check the hands at the start of the examination, but in other examination vids you seem to do. Why is hand examination important?
@DrJamesGill
@DrJamesGill 4 жыл бұрын
The hand examination can reveal a host of clinical signs relating to the body - for example a fine tremor might suggest a patient is on medication, or an issue with the thyroid. The JVP is not an examination on it’s own - per say - but a step in many others. HOWEVER it is a clinical skill many of the students have difficulty with initially, so wanted to film this and will be using it as part of a Deep Dive video about what the clinical signs are behind the JVP

Shouldn't you be pressing on the liver first to check that what you are looking at is the JVP and then measuring it, rather than the other way around? Doesn't really make sense otherwise
@DrJamesGill
@DrJamesGill 3 жыл бұрын
You assess for the JVP initially visually, as you might NOT be able to see it, as it could be too high (in the skull) or below the clavicle. From there, pressing on the liver will cause the JVP to rise, confirming the location The carotid artery pulsation MAY be seen, and can be confused for the JVP, but this will be palpable, and crucially, will NOT change pressing on the liver.
