The beta of starwars battlefront 3 actually looks so much better than both new battlefronts combined. It has ground to space combat- a good or at least very interesting story- and it didn't waste time on making content for the sequels. Its literally everything ive ever wanted from battlefront.

I remember seeing BF3 in a Gameinformer magazine as a kid and being so excited. It sucks we never got it, and that Star Wars games started to tank after 2005, with the exception of TFU in 2008. It's sad to see Star Wars flounder like this considering how many quality games came out between 1995 to 2005. Back to back we were getting games like the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron, Podracer, KOTOR, Republic Commando, Bounty Hunter, Empire at War LEGO Star Wars, a few lesser games that were fun, but nowhere near the same level as the previously stated, and of course Battlefront. Being a kid during the prequel movies was the best era to be a Star Wars fan because there was no shortage of content, and unlike the Disney era of Star Wars it ranged from the EU on both ends of the movies and the movies as a whole.

Really good video, As someone who spent a lot of time learning about Free Radical's BF3 and the history of BF as a whole, There was info I didn't even know about (mainly the whole Battlefront Online part) It's really a shame to see how close we were to getting BF3 multiple times, only for them to be canceled. I'm also surprised you didn't mention the leaked playable build of BF3. Also really sad to hear that GiT has been abandoned, I followed development of it closely (even back before it was forced to rebrand by EA) and I was really hoping they could have turned the game around after the mess that was their EA release.

My dad and I recently obtained the most recent version. The visuals were a great improvement. Arcade mode’s split screen team battles were fun but we missed bum rushing command posts. Then we tried Instant Action. It barely took us 3 rounds in each mode to realize what was lost from conquest. NPC heroes are nigh invincible with regenerating health and there was no reinforcement count just a timer, so dispatching multiple enemies no longer held the weight of actual contribution. Back to the original.

Free Radical's BF3 was developed alongside Force Unleashed to the point where low-res Battlefront assets are in TFU. BF3 had the smoothest development out of all of those last few Lucasarts games which isn't saying much. Apparently the game really was mostly done, but it crashed almost always.

I’d like to add Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars: Wingman(I think?). These were two games developed as a fps and space fighter games respectively. With the team saying they were planning on making a 3rd game combining both aspects of their previous games into a full-scale sky-to-ground combat game.

As someone who played the originals on my PS2 as a kid, What DICE Battlefront 2 did wrong was not adding Ai Hero mode, no ability to just walk up and grab a vehicle thats ready to be used, land ships and fight on foot, or just have more fighting Ai options like the original BF2 did. Sometimes coming home from work i just dont want to fight other people. I want to play as a jedi or sith and fight other ai jedi/sith and enjoy myself not worrying about sweats hogging a character or slaughtering you instantly. Its just not fun for something that was always just a kick back and chill game.

You missed a few things on the pandemic side of things, BF1 had many years of development, dont quote me on this but i think it started around 2001? Pandemic didnt switch from BF entirely because they were sick of it, After BF2 they did pitch a BF3 (similar to FRD's with Space to Ground) but lucasarts wanted it in a year and pandemic couldnt do that)

So idk if people kmow this but starwars battlefront 3 technically came out, it was called Elite Squadron. Sadly it only came out on PSP and nintendo DS and the only version that had the sort of seemless ground to space combat was the PSP version.

Battlefront 2 (2005) was my childhood game and I have to say Battlefront 2 (2017) is indeed a worthy successor and the modern Battlefront game that we all dreamed about. But a true perfect Battlefront game where there is seamless space to ground combat, tons of single player content, a great campaign, heroes and villains who are the most beloved Star Wars characters that feel truly great and satisfying to play, and dozens of varied maps that explore the Star Wars universe has yet to be made.

Bf 2017 is not the battlefront I dreamed about. I didn’t dream about vehicles being stripped of all their features. I didn’t dream about infantry fighting bullet sponge reinforcements and heroes constantly. I didn’t dream for shitty maps that always devolve to corridors. I didn’t dream for hero spam. I didn’t dream for classes losing all their support roles. EA battlefront 2017 is more like a nightmare than a dream😂. Even bf 2015 had a better infantry experience with its jetpacks.

Lucasarts and Dambusters studios both have copy’s to this day, they are not working on anything with it, sometimes they will use bf3 models in cheap mobile games but that’s about as much as any thing from bf3 will be officially used.

I assume that the lack of Prequel Content in Battlefront 2015 was a mandate from Disney and Lucasfilm. At the time they were trying to completely distance Star Wars from that era of the franchise, something that alienated a lot of fans including myself

Dice BF2 is a lot better than the original in my opinion, and I played the original as a kid. I think it's strange that it's a real tragedy that we were right on the cusp of getting a true sequel to the originals and the new ones with features we all wanted and fun gameplay just for ea to ruin it

@@Jiub_SNlol, dice wasn’t going to do jackshit with ea battlefront 3 that would make the ogs happy if they didn’t do it for battlefront 2. They still kept the same vehicle problems that bf 2015 had. They worsened the infantry experience by making reinforcements and heroes on the map constantly with too much health; not fun for a normal infantry soldier to fight bullet sponges constantly. They hadn’t brought back any modes from the originals besides hero vs villains and no; capital supremacy isn’t conquest. They didn’t even bring back private matches which battlefront 2015 had. EA battlefront 2 focused more on the heroes which is not the direction that fans of the ogs wanted.

With the modernization of application of ai in modern society, I feel like small team game development will take off soon. Leaving projects like the games we never got open content for people to make into reality. Based on chatgpt's algorithm, it wouldn't be hard for an ai like that, if designed for making games, to use a modern game engines to deliver us a perfect copy of what battlefront 3 was originally intended to be. I think if this actually happens it would be a breakthrough towards a better free gaming market for everyone on all platforms, It would put huge stress on big companies that now would have to compete with anyone who has an original idea and access to the means to produce games even in their spare time, a small mod team such as the ones we see in games like fallout 4, battlefront 2(such as the one that brought us bf3 legacy), half-life, and many more could bust open the gaming industry with fresh content and actual entertainment for everyone

Also I have to point out your Dice bf1 outline was spot on, however your bf2 was not; ask anyone on release if bf2 had a fully fledged campaign and they'd laugh at you. It was a short story that was original and interesting however the game was really weak on launch and I honestly expected more. Supremacy update was the high point for the game, but it's dead to me now

Your information on why battlefront 2015 isn’t like the classics is wrong. The force awakens is not why ea and dice decided to intentionally leave out most things that made battlefront unique. If only Lucasfilms weren't so stingy and just hired people that love star wars to the core with a higher budget I fell like this would have been the best games, faults on both sides Lucasfilms thinks about money like SA games that stricts themselves from. Making a game, hiring the wrong devs and not giving enough credit to the ones that actually want a battlefront like rebellion, free radical were doing a kojima development of haze should have been monitored, Lucasfilms should have suspended the business and blacklisted them from ignoring BB3, on the other side Lucasfilms sold rights to Disney and a contract to ea that's a big nono with no entitlements such as ea games should only have power over what they should use but never make a time frame and budget within 1 year like they always do. Dice wanted to make a BB3 using the same engine what they should have done is added the battlefront elite campaign, Galatic conquest and jump from ground assault to dog fights on the same Map idea too bad that things were rushed, budgets were made and they stop listening to fans like what Mark Hamill said about The last jedi, think about the fans before publishing a movie yet as always Disney woke pushing to Make Money just like Hollywood blind with greed
