The bear in this scene is Vincent, from Over the Hedge. Either they simply used the same design for a completely different bear, or Over the Hedge and the Bee Movie are set in the same universe. @@KeatonGraves You can apply that logic to any of the great masterpieces from animation (not saying the bee movie is a masterpiece, but it's also not bad.) and utterly fail to comprehend why "kids would want to watch a scene like X in movie X" Kids don't need to understand everything in order for the movie to be enjoyable. And this courtroom scene was filled to the brim with visual gags to boot. Ask yourself: do you think shrek was ENTIRELY understandable to whatever "kids" you have in your head? More importantly: DOES THAT EVEN MATTER? Furthermore, this movie's humor is very much more attuned to early teenage humor rather than "kids". "Kid" is an enormously broad term, and people online use it for anything between the age of 0 and 18. I'm pretty sure the writing team here didn't give two flying f*cks either way.

Here's what confuses me about this scene. If you look closely at the newspapers at the end, all three have different dates. The New York Times says Sunday, July 8th, 2007. The New York Post says Wednesday, July 7th, 2004. Finally, Daily Variety says Thursday, March 3rd, 2005. Are the dates supposed to imply that the trial went on for three years, or is it just a small error on the animator's part?
