@@MasterAppels The Ringer signed him and then basically had him stop making more than 1 or 2 videos a year. It fucking sucks, kinda wish he'd just go independent again.

@royalminstrelI'm a little disappointed that the Ringer repurposed him the way they did too. But he doesn't just pop up on the podcasts occasionally, he's carved out his spots on the ringer nba show and feels like a mainstay now, even showing up on bill's pod realtively often.
@mcnastyedits Жыл бұрын
@royalminstrel Yeah that's exactly what it is, he has his own podcast and then he'll do draft coverage podcasts with KOC and jump on other guys podcasts on the network. He's good on the pods, but as you said it is a waste of his talent when he produces videos this good.

Great deep dive on Scoot's athleticism, vision and how he makes it works on offense. I'm definitely a believer in his potential especially if he continues to work on his handles. He has the ideal blend of athleticism and traits to have high level handles to probe defenses in the mid range, draw defenders and split em. He's already on that idea of blending his particular shooting motions with playmaking in part of his athleticism so I'd like to see how he develops that as a pro. As well as his jumper game with on-ball and on the catch may improve as he gets a better feel blending his movement and his scoring looks.

Scoot is my favorite player in the draft hands down kid is an electric box office talent that can score at will with good defense, cause of his long wingspan 📸🔥

@Dodge_MorningstarI’m by no means an expert but I feel I’ve watched enough to add some comments, defensively there were a few concerns but when he’s locked in his physical traits make him a very good perimeter defender and there’s definitely a very high ceiling there. He’s not a perfect floor general yet but generally good decision making and timing, and that will only improve as he ages. He’s a phenomenal slasher and isn’t afraid of contact, if his 3 ball and pull up midrange falls consistently at the NBA level he’s gonna be a problem

J Kyle i would love to see a video on modern day prospect expectations. I think something that is lost on people is that while prospects are entering the league with insane talent they often very young and the floor/average of league rn has improved like crazy. Only 1 rookie has made an all star team in the last 20 years. Even the prospects that have people very excited still need time to get there.

I think Wemby might take a little while for his offensive game to come around, and the other one I am keeping my eye on is Amen Thompson. He looks super nice. He's my type of guy. Someone who can do a little of everything. I am excited about this rookie class. Also can't rule out Chet making moves.

Fantastic tape compilation. Learned more about Scoot than ever. Others mostly only show freak athlete highlights and it was cool to see trends of how he gets to spots and what passes get him in trouble. Surprised you basically ended saying his ceiling is a #2 on a serious contender lol
@dre7147 Жыл бұрын
That's his prediction for right now, he could obviously work into a #1 on a championship team tho for sure. Especially with the right pieces around him.
@michaelahurt Жыл бұрын
It really shouldn't be. Go look at the best player on title teams. You basically need to be a top 3-5 player in the NBA which is really hard because you have to be *insanely* efficient. (Compared to league average TS% Jokic was +12 this year, Curry has been +7-13, Giannis was +6 in 2021, Bron has been +8-10, KD +8-10, and Kawhi is 'only' +4-6 and was +6 in the playoffs in 2019) It's basically impossible for small guards to reach that level of efficiency. Curry is an extreme, extreme, *extreme* outlier. Even Kyrie (who is an all-time great shooter in is own right) only gets to +3-4. Trae is -1 to +3. Russ has been mostly below but was at league average in his prime years. Same for Iverson. Ja and Wall are below league average. Isiah Thomas was always below except one season. So the one time this worked, the Bad Boy Pistons, it's maybe the biggest team building outlier and least replicable championship formula in NBA history. Even Jerry West (+8-10) needed Wilt. This is the reason you had a huge chunk of people who preferred Brandon Miller. It's nothing against Scoot, but he's 6'2" and can't shoot in a league where the two most valuable traits are size and shooting. And Miller has both.
@dre7147 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelahurt Scoot has an elite mid range. And while that is true Chauncey Billiups also won a championship and finals MVP, Tony Parker was major piece, same with Jamal Murray, Kyle Lowry. And out of all those guards you mentioned Scoot is the strongest, one of the most athletic and has a 6'9 wingspan and is about 6'4 with shoes on. He's built different
@michaelahurt Жыл бұрын
@@dre7147 No he doesn't. This myth needs to die. He's 34% from mid-range. That's bad. Chauncey was an incredible shooter (+6 TS in Detroit) and played with four (!) other All-Stars. He's literally the opposite of what I'm saying. And most of us viewed Ben as our best player anyway. (Although Chauncey was criminally underrated.) Parker and Murray? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Omg. You can't possibly be serious. You think Parker and Murray are better than Duncan and Jokic? And Kyle Lowry was also clearly the second best player on his title team behind Kawhi. Which is the point. No one is saying Scoot is the next Dennis Smith Jr. (Well I'm not anyway and neither is Kyle) just that his ceiling is as a #2 like all the guys you just described
@jacobellis9419 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelahurt this is a good point, I was really surprised bc the narrative outside of this is "Franchise player" and tier above the rest of the prospects outside wemby. Made me expect him to say something blanket like star, all-nba, etc.

I like Scoot I think his tools and control are very impressive. However, if he doesn't improve his jump shooting there will be a low ceiling on a blazers team for which he carries are large offensive load. Putting shooters around him will help their floor be reasonably high, but when they go up against teams with big scorers and playmakers leading the way, it's going to be an uphill battle. His polished skillset and NBA-ready body are astounding for someone his age. But it also makes me question just how much room he has to improve. I personally prefer Miller as a prospect as size and shooting are just my most valued traits, but Scoot will certainly be a force.

Scoot physically is a different specimen. Those shoulders are huge and he can probably add another 5-7 lbs of lean mass while keeping his agility. When he masters how to de-celerate and handles, he can utilize similar drive to basket game like Deron Williams. Who was pretty difficult to stop going at the hoop since that dude big at 210 lbs.

Scoot does not have that bad hitch Lonzo had in his young NBA years where he brought the ball up from under and towards his left side of his body at the peak. Which was even worse since if Lonzo chose to pull up dribbling from his right (or even better with his left) defenders just scout to know when he pulls up and swipe downwards at the ball.
