one thing i wish was mentioned during the smart pistol run is the theme and feel of the situation and the fact that cooper doesnt talk at all even refusing to respond to Briggs' comms. this could be interpreted as that cooper (and therefore the player) is dead-set on simply moving forward relentlessly, this combined with the smart pistol gives the sense of urgency yet control and superiority that nothing can get in your way and standard enemies are reduced to something as insignificant as a single trigger pull per bunch

This level has some of my favorite details in any game. The empty titan chassis that Cooper calls down, FS-1041, is the same one he calls down during the training simulation, as a tiny little nod to how far Cooper has come and to bring the story full circle. And the secret dialogue that you get if you let the final dialogue choice timer run out hurts every single time, and it shows just how much BT has learned from Cooper. This level seems almost specifically designed to allow you to get many achievements, such as killing 25 enemies with one core if you don't kill any of the infantry in the short hallway and allow them to stack up, giving you lots of low health titans to get the "kill 3 titans in one core" achievement, and the smart-pistol makes killing 3 enemies in one slide and three enemies in one wall run a breeze.
@strikerlx16953 жыл бұрын
I’ve been saying this forever. So glad someone else realizes FS-1041 is the same Titan you call down. Just as you said, making things come full circle in a sense. Maybe we’ll get to actually operate Foxtrot Sierra(FS) in the next game!

4:30 What always amused me about this particular scene was that the Titan that fell to meet Cooper is named FS-1041. If you remember back to the first mission/tutorial, when Lastimosa tells Cooper to call his first Titan in the simulator, it is also named FS-1041. This leads me to believe that this was always meant to be Cooper's titan had the mission not gone horribly wrong.

I remember my first playthrough of Fold Weapon. I remember sitting in the cockpit watching the catapult countdown as it gets ready to launch BT at the Ark, and feeling a profound sense of melancholy. As I'd told BT, I wasn't going anywhere and had BT not taken matters in to his own hands I'd have seen the whole ride through to the explosive end. Because at the end of the day BT was my friend and the least I could do was see it through with him to the bitter end.

It’s honestly sad how many people never touched this amazing campaign. As an avid Titanfall 1 fan at the time, I made sure to get BOTH Battlefield 1 AND Titanfall 2 from EA’s library that time of year. Judging by the first game’s lack of a proper single player experience, I wasn’t expecting all that much when it came to the campaign… but man did that only add to my pleasant surprise once I got into it. It absolutely blew me away and single-handedly made a fan of all things Respawn. Let’s hope Titanfall will not be forgotten by the success of Apex nor that Respawn will be ruined and killed off by EA, as is common with the company
@lebendigesgespenst76693 жыл бұрын
That said, the founders of Respawn survived a greedy giant gaming corporation numerous times before. And if that is to be their fate as a company, then I’ll simply follow them into the next company they start up.

So just a fun little fact "SERE" is a military acronym for "Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape." In real life this is the training the military puts people through whom have any chance of ending up behind enemy lines or under hostile interrogation. The details of the training are extremely secret but it contains wilderness survival segments and psychological techniques to resist torture as well as a how to be a "cooperating" captive to prevent torture while giving away only that information which will be useless to the captors. It's a very challenging course mentally. One of the culminating events is a section where the squad in training is dropped into the woods and the cadre (trainers) whom are experts in the subject, hunt them down with dogs. They must use their training to evade and survive for a certain number of days. After that time they are "captured" and held as captives. The details of this portion of the test are thin and intentionally so. But they will be interrogated for multiple days.

Titanfall 2 has probably been one of my favorite games too, it sucks that Respawn decided to cut support for it after the servers were attacked. It’s genuinely saddening. You’ve done a wonderful job covering the game, and it’s awesome playable features!
@reecedignan83652 жыл бұрын
Very late to the call, but one thing I love is the way they portray Blisk. During the first Titanfall he’s your IMC operator if your fighting for them and helping give you instructions and keeping you on objective. However, you can see his companionship with many of the IMC characters in that game play through in how he hates fighting them and wants them to come back to the IMC like they used to be together - when a large portion of the Militia troopers were just ex-IMC personnel who’d settled down on their new frontier land spots only to have the IMC encroaching on them. Seeing him as a Merc gives a good move on from his character from the first game, taking the whole “fighting for a cause” thing as something worthless and instead moving to the belief in his skills and that with the IMC cut off from Earth, what’s there really to fight for but yourself? Plus we see his reaction to most of his team. You see that while he happily lets the Apex Predators get about their jobs, he is upset somewhat when he loses one and he also continues to seem to be the only one who can direct their skills properly - look to the start, when he’s got them working together they can take down one of the Militias best Titan pilots for the loss of one. Throw them in alone then they are shredded down to pieces by some upcoming pilot jock. The end also gives a good insight into his character. Throughout the game you hear his insults towards you, but at the same time you hear his respect and admiration for you as you pick apart his crew from just being some nobody rifleman militia trooper. Now take the end, not only does he refuse to kill you out of sheer respect, he give you a very interesting choice. Is fighting for the militia worth something, or maybe putting your skills on the market like most pilots, the true way to go. Plus when Cooper loses BT… yeah he was a Rifleman for the Militia, but what’s keeping him there? BT is gone. His Teacher gone. The fight against the IMC goes on, but as the multiplayer shows, they are not but a fractured group now. The Marauder Corps wants to take him in but.. these are the same corps of pilots who are in themselves have links to the Militia, but are they truly loyal - look at the 6:4, they are not even Militia pilots but mercs like Blisk, just they are more willing to throw their hat in with the Militia. Blisk is an interesting character in that he shows the path of so many “fighters of the cause”. When that cause finally goes away? What’s there worth fighting for?

I loved this game. I'm not typically one for fps games, but this game tricked, backstabbed, and quite possibly bamboozled me by giving me the best fps campaign I never expected, and for that it's earned a special place in my heart. I know that currently there's alot of frustration circulating Apex Legends, but people do need to give Respawn the time and freedom to get back to what they do best.

The two moments that really nailed the compatibility, relationship and trust between the two went completely unmentioned in your videos: When you fall off the dish to your certain doom, Cooper screams for BT. He didn't incomprehensibly scream, he didn't call for a deity and he didn't swear, all things people might do involuntarily. He called for BT. His life and death instinct has adapted to the professional trust in BT. And immediately it's reciprocated by BT's affirmation: "Got you". Then comes the thumb up, of which you only mentioned the animation. After Cooper goes all in in their relationship, BT now proves that he can and will go in from his stiff direction as well. In this video, you glanced over the embarkment animation for when you reunite. You run up the god damn gun as a ramp and hop in. It's no longer awkwardly clambering into the pilot seat, it's not BT grabbing and shoving you inside. It's you taking control and going in, handling the massive gun as naturally as playing in a playground. If BT said before the mission that your compatibility exceeds 90%, at that moment I could imagine "100%!!!" flashing across the screen. I love these moments.
