Examon VS Kentaurosmon! | Digimon Card Game: BT-13 Round Table Conference (ROUND 2)

This is Round 2 of the Round Table Conference, a tournament featuring 16 decks from the 13th main booster of the Digimon Card Game: VS Royal Knights. The next two decks to clash are the Royal Knights Examon and Kentaurosmon. The Green/Blue Examon deck is largely the same forced attack suspend/unsuspend control, but has achieved greater consistency and speed with support in the form of new Dracomon. On the other hand, the Yellow Kentaurosmon deck features new evolution lines that unleash their potential when the total number of Security on the field is low. They maintain their field presence and prolong the game with Recovery while gradually whitling away the Security on both sides of the field, suddenly ending the match with continuous attacks. Which knight will prevail? The knight of the sky? Or the knight of the frozen wastes?

I AM ACTUALLY DUMB. (SPOILER: On Exa's 2nd last turn, they could have just evolved Groundra into Slayerdra and swung twice for game) Man, relearning Examon took a while. Haven't tested it since EX-03 and it's still as tricky to pilot. I'm not exactly super confident cos it's not a deck/playstyle I main so I do apologise in advance if yall notice any suboptimal plays. Still though, the new Dracomon (both BT11 and P-092) do some awesome work for the deck, especially in terms of Memory efficiency. The new Sleipmon lines (plural if you wanna include the BanchoLeo line) are pretty fun and I like the overall feel of being able to slowly whittle away at both sides' Security without having to worry too much about losing your field presence, but I suppose the Yellow Hybrid / Tamer-focused engine is more competitively viable due to the difference in sheer support - spamming Tamers with GeoGrey and RizeGrey, then going into Sleip with SA+1 from RizeGrey's inheritable for 2 hits on 2 dmg. And of course, finishing off what remains of your opponent's Security / Life with Kazemon and / or Zephyrmon. But boy do I love going into Jesmon GX for 2. An eventual Kentaurosmon X will just make the deck more fun to play the way I want to play it!

Kind of like BT13 MirageGao stuff, not enough pay off for the advantage it gives to the opponent. Seen MirageGao Burst decks just hand over wins because they lacked pieces to make the most of all that card draw.

kentaurosmon's deck has potential, but they could launch a burst mode for the deck or a new Chaosmon, this being a Kentauros arm version or the ultimate chaosmon

I thought the same. Yes there are a few cards that activate effects when they are trashed but there isnt enough recovery in this deck and so you lose your security really fast.

Examon may not be the strongest deck in the game, but it for sure must be one of the scariest. A gigantic dragon with 15k DP that can skip levels to jogress, forces you to attack it and is a pain to get rid of? Scary stuff.

Great match! Still learning as a semi new player here. Quick question, with the Jesmon GX piercing and 3 attacks, wouldn’t the ice wall have ended the turn (effectively making it only 2 attacks) since the memory flipped to the other side?

Simultaneous Security damage isn't counted as multiple attacks. Rather than Jesmon GX attacking 3 times, it's treated as Jesmon GX inflicting a single blow worth 3 damage. Hence, even if the Memory flips over to the other side midway, the remaining damage resolves before the turn ends

Fellow Examon player here, not trying to mess you up, but your timing is incorrect with Examon’s and Slayer’s unsuspends. During opponents turn, their attack must resolve, before either of yours unsuspend. Thus, Examon would not have been able to evade after blocking a stronger Digimon. Just letting you know. Great video though. Can’t wait for the BT13 set to drop.

Wait seriously? Always though that the unsuspend happens immediately after its suspended even if its for blocker. Since the wording is the same between the three with "[All Turns] (Once Per Turn) When this Digimon is suspended, [extra effect]" doesn't that mean Brakedramon won't be able to suspend an opponents digimon with his skill if he blocks an opponents digimon attack until after the battle is over? If so that kinda sucks since it makes him a lot less usable for a defensive option. Same with the new Bastemon that came out with BT13 since it has the same effect as Brakedramon 😱

@Moto Medic This is incorrect. The attack declaration resolves first, then Exa/Slayer unsuspends, then the attack itself resolves. This is reflected in the official ruling FAQs for these cards and similar cards, please check

Not so good with timing but after reading your rulings thing in reply to Moto Medic, so if you suspend Exa or a Slayer who has blocker from ESS for the Slayer effect. Since he unsuspends after the attack declaration, would he still be able to block the attack or you'd need another digimon to block the attack? Same time if you suspend for example a Brakedramon for the Slayerdramon forced attack effect, you only will suspend a digimon after the attack is declared meaning if they have 2 you can't force them to choose a specific one since the suspend would only happens after the attack has been declared?

@@ultimatemk (1) Yep, you can suspend Slayer/Exa to force an attack -> they unsuspend -> use them to block the attack they forced. (2) Correct, Breakdramons suspend will happen after your opponent declares an attack. However, you actually dont want Breakdras suspend to happen first. Since Slayers effect allows the opponent to choose which Digimon they attack with, they can choose suspended Digimon and this would result in no attack happening (covered in the official rules FAQ)

The idea is that with 1 TK and 1 Richard, you start with 4 Memory. Even if all you have on the field are 2 Lv3s (including a Kuda) and 0 Memory, you can OTK an opponent with 4 Security. 2 to Kentauros to swing and unsuspend, 2 to GX to swing the rest, 2nd body swings for game

The problem is that the original Examon is so powerful that you want to see it more often than not The new one has some niche but at the moment there’s no real application for it Even more so the fact it relies mainly on your opponent having a board to use any of its effects

Contrary to the most of the comments here, I am relieved that bt13 examon not only doesn't replace secret examon in its deck, it outright doesn't contribute much to the deck except for the yggy deck or as an additional examon name (in case you need more than 4 examon in your build). It would be quite the bummer to those players who spent alot for 4 secret examon from ex3 when a much better rare examon from bt13 comes in to replace it, rendering ex3 examon to be valueless in the end. Bt13 examon should always be supporting yggy's build while also being an alternative to ex3 examon in its own dedicated deck. Rip ulforceveedramon bt2 for having its spot taken out by Bt11 ulforce though. Great match nonetheless, new dracomon promo actually solves the deck's major problem of needing multiple pieces (usually two lines even with the ultimates being able to cheat being lvl 6) and memory to climb to either ultimates. Here's to hoping we get examon x to close out the deck once and for all.
