i'm a bit confused why 4:58 is a fault? could they not have joined the left lane and turned left? seems like they end up doing that anyway at the end?

3:44 lack of line markings surely means there are no lanes. Since there was no car on the right, this should have been a minor in my opinion.

Hi Max thanks for taking the time to comment. The markings in Halifax (as with many towns/cities) are poor and this roundabout is no exception. When it was repainted the council did not extend the lines through the roundabout but did distinctly mark out 2 adjacent keep Clear areas just prior to the exit seen being taken (the remnants of the left one can be made out in the video). It is good driving practice to respect the space around you, there are 2 lanes as you enter the roundabout and 2 as you leave so it is reasonable to stick to your path i.e. lane even though the markings are less than helpful. In this case we clearly impede the right hand side and it is by luck rather than judgement that no collision takes place. The video does not show whether there is a car to our right, but an examiner can still mark a fault as serious based on its potential for danger i#even if noe occurs on the actual occassion. i hope this helps Daryl

Hi thanks for your message. This is not my opinion but that if the driving examiner, all these clips are from real tests. In this case it was felt that no attempt had been made to avoid a possible collision, yes nothing happened this time, but what if the car pulling out had stalled and stopped in our path?
