Excavator Tilt bucket (Better than Grading Bucket)

I have been reusing hydro fittings for years unless they are damaged, don't let those hydro shops tell you can't reuse them all they need is a new crimp!

Awesome! I could totally use that upgrade! Lately I’ve been using my grading bucket and for clean up it’s works great! That added tilt would really make it work even better! 👍🏼

Got it directly from Mongo attachments, Jordan McClain. It’s setup with a Wainroy quick attach but they are setup to be universal and will weld whatever attach provision you need.

Dropped it off at the neighbors place today (has the same coupler). I had his 24” digging bucket. He came by to pick it up, saw the tilt and asked to take it instead! Saw your vid, noticed you have the 4-way blade on your bobcat. Super nice for distributing material. I’ve been a follower of yours for years. Appreciate the time you put in on this stuff! I priced a small 30" unit last week (for my E20) from Mongo. $3,300 and not sure about shipping. Sweet unit but a little out of my price range for now. Liked and subscribed.

Thanks for sharing this! I just bought a 2016 26G. What size digging bucket have you found works best with your machine? I'm thinking 18" is probably the largest I should get. I'm also looking at a tilt bucket. How do you keep your thumb retracted after you switch the hydraulic hoses to the tilt bucket? Have you found any issues with the thumb/tilt bucket combo? Thanks!

That’s a great machine! Congratulations! I have a 12” and a 24” bucket plus the tilt bucket. The 24 with a load of wet dirt will tip the machine at full extension but makes digging big holes and loading material much faster. The 12 is good for trenches but feels like using a teaspoon for moving material. On the the thumb question, I retract the thumb fully then back it off slightly to unload the hydraulic pressure to facilitate disconnecting the couplers. There’s no pressure relief function on these machines so if you decouple with pressure remaining, you can’t get it reconnected without cracking the threaded connections. The thumb won’t move as long as the unconnected couplers don’t leak. I’d really like to add a set of remote electric valves on the dipper to facilitate use of either tilt or thumb without switching connections.

I got a 26g. And a 36inch ditching bucket. It no problem in fully load the bucket. If I fully extend the arm with the bucket fully loaded. I will tilt the whole machine. I also hard weld the cutting edge and grind it into a chisel like edge. It can dig medium hard ground ok. I only hardly ever use my 18inch bucket now. Only use it for rocky or super hard ground. 80% of the time. I used my 36 inch. Because it get the job done much faster. I got my machine new and it almost 500 hr on it now. People say 36inch is too big. For me. For soft to medium soil. It perfect. But I know. With my limited weight and breakout force. If I add a tilt . I think it might be too much.

I put a 44” Mongo on my EC35C and it’s at its limit. It would be too much for your machine. I love mine too.

Yeah, full of wet dirt, the 36” can make the machine a bit tippy depending on position.

is your thumb still usable in this configuration? I have the same set up withthe QC27 tag attachment. trying to see how to make is so the thumb can be used too. currently disconnecting hte hoses.....

Glad you find it helpful! I also have a Deere 135D that I started out with. 135 is 33k lbs, 27 is 6500 lbs. the big machine is great for moving lots of dirt and lifting big stuff. That said, I had no idea what I was missing before I bought the 27! It’s so useful. Use it all the time for trenching, trimming, trails, moving rocks, loading logs. All sorts of stuff! It fits anywhere (maybe not through a man gate) but way easier to get under tree canopy, light enough it doesn’t tear up the ground, drive it down the road without tearing it up. Was also looking at a Deere 36 and Kubota KX040-6 but excepting missing the 6 way blade the Kubota options with, so glad I went with the smaller machine. Neighbor had a 27d first. He loves it, same use. So I went out and got one.
