There are a few ways: lookup, or worksheet reference. It depends. Try this video title: Highline Excel 2013 Class Video 07: Worksheet & Workbook References, 3-D Cell References

You can just use a range in the formula and it will expand as long as the range is inside an Excel Table. 08:01 in this video has an example. If the table already exists, just type the reference for a column and it will be dynamic!

Wow! That is really horrible... I posted it yesterday but you are right it does not work. I can't get the link fixed till I get back to Highline. I will go in tomorrow on Sunday and fix it. I imagine I can get in between 10 AM to 2 PM. I will post back when i get the workbook link fixed...

Thanks for the video but I think slicer is inefficient when it comes to work with relatively bigger size of data. Since it takes a lot of time to scroll down and up to find particular item one wants to select. Instead filter can do it much faster.

Basically table 1 holds clients and second sheet hold invoice In table 1 my cursor is on a given row let say 91 but could be anywhere column wise... I would like that on the invoice a formula that would reconize what row I am on in table1 and extract the value of the A91 cell (so first colum of that row). wich is the clients number... hope i am clear

Hi Mike, I am Victor. I watch your lessons and in the last one I found what it means to use the name of a data table in a formula. The syntax [Field]:[Field] seems to me very complex.There is no $ to insert and I do not knot how the table will react if I move the angry rabbit. I fact I did some simpler expressions with DataTables but at the end I gave up. Is any solution to use the old notation. It seems that the dynamic ranges have a huge potential if you know how to put it in a formula.

I want to create a table with Departments(Dept 1,2,3,4) and in each departments Sections(1,2,3,4) and the tickets allotted to each sections for day1, day2 and day 3. when I do that using a table, for each row I have to mention the Department( I want that written only one time like in a pivot table). also I want the subtotals of each depatments to be shown. But these are not possible using table.I also want to update the total sum of tickets when ever I add a new data. So can't avoid the table also. Is there a solution for that?

What if I want to use the max function to find a number within a Table then add one to that number so the numbers are incremented. I find the following function/formula will work fine in a data set, but won't work correctly if used in a Table. I don't know how to convert the following function into Table nomenclature equivalent. MAX($B$11:B11)+1
