The Leon comeback made him one of my favorite fighters. I liked his style before, but the heart and will, plus the perfectly set up kick, to get the belt. Better than most movies.
@NightlyGiraffe2 жыл бұрын
Leon's a kickboxer, he should have been kicking in that fight a lot earlier. I like him, a lot more than Usman, but that kick was just a last ditch attempt and a hail Mary, he looked so defeated beforehand. If he can't get another kick like it in the rematch, which now Usman knows to watch out for, I don't see him keeping the belt long
@henryhooker15792 жыл бұрын

I prefer comebacks like Tim Boetsch vs Yushin Okami, Elkins vs Bektic, or Merab vs Marlon Moraes etc
@camerons47022 жыл бұрын
@@Th3Chuzzl3r That’s fair, the first two comebacks were also crazy, it’s a shame Merab won that one, I was pulling for Marlon. I think it’s the speech the coach gave Leon that makes me like that comeback most. It reminds me of some of the best motivation my coaches have given me.
@Th3Chuzzl3r2 жыл бұрын
@@camerons4702 Ya that comeback is probably the only time Merab was actually entertaining so I understand going for Moraes haha. I like the comebacks where the guys are getting beat up and comeback to break their opponent for the win, I love seeing that type of grit/will, its my favorite part of the sport. Props to Leon tho, he looked good against Usman in the 1st round as well, but I dont think he wins in the rematch.

"Stop feeling sorry for yourself" just hits different. In life, no matter how talented you are or how many skills you've mastered, there are moments where you simply lose confidence and get discouraged. All we need to do is get past that "sorry" phase and that itself is a success on its own.

Chito Vera was speaking about this subject a couple of weeks ago in his UFC spanish commentarie. I can't recall exactly in which fight, but the thing is that, the figther was getting dominated in the striking aspect and when the corner came in, they just wasted that time shouting at him instead of giving him useful advice. So Chito said what he would do if he was in this figther position and that, yeah sometimes you need motivation, but what you need the most is someone that can provide you useful guidance in your performance.

Was hoping to see Trevor Wittman`s "You are a champion because of your jab" in this (from Usman`s fight with Burns), because after that Usman focused on the jab and it changed the fight massively, ultimately leading to Usman`s win. Trevor Wittman gives the best corner advice anyway. Some coaches get very technical and hyper detailed, some just shout motivational stuff at their fighter, whereas Wittman`s advice always seems clear, concise and practical and motivational at the same time.
