This pretty much checks all my boxes for EDC. Good lock, blade hole, blade shape, steel. It's slightly smaller than I go with but still in the wheelhouse.

Definitely gets sharp , I got my frack to like 15 each side and it stays sharp for awhile

I love watching your knife reviews as much as E.T. does over there. 😊 I really like the external simplicity of this knife's design, with the flat ground spear point, and simple, neutral scales; they work really well together aesthetically. The sharpening choil also looks gradual enough for cardboard not to get caught in it so readily. I certainly agree that (as you mentioned) it would have been nice for the choil to have been extended into a full finger choil. But the handle seems large & comfortable enough that it'd be nice, though it's certainly not necessary. Thanks for the review!

What happened to liner locks? It seems like most the recent releases in the budget world are button locks and cross bar locks.

Really so many great options these days that I'd go for something else like the Raccoon, but that's just preference... hard to go wrong at $50.

Hectare or Racoon. Got the Button lock Racoon and the lock failed within 3 days. Had good luck with CJRB. Which do you prefer?

If you had to pick between the Raccoon and the CJRB who would it be ? Im getting one of these for myself.

I felt the raccoon had a nicer crossbar lock. Plus the obstructed thumb hole access on the Hectare is frustrating.

At this moment, the Raccoon offers other options you might prefer : micarta handles, different blade shapes, a button lock version, thumb studs instead of thumb hole, dark dlc blade... The CJRB has a slightly better steel, to me, and maybe later other options too. So it's a taste choice. If you want to get a "Bugout like" knife, more affordable and not super lightweight, the CJRB seems to be a good option.

​@@Tunnelmath I know it's not ideal, but with those long deployment holes it really helps to push off on the very top. Have been doing that with the CJRB Ekko today. Saw this comment and definitely understand what you're saying.

I suppose so. I kinda stopped buying new knives cuz I couldn't find anything I like more than my ka bar dozier, which may be boring but I love it. Now I just wait till the end of the year and see if any knives have come out that I like.
