Hi Beth! I'm probably not applying this technique 100% correctly and struggle to locate the Psoas muscle. However, I'm experiencing pain relief for which I'm extremely grateful. Thank you!!! Greetings, Henriette from South Africa❤

This is so helpful thank you! I’m training for my first marathon next month and for the last couple of weeks have had discomfort in this area as soon as I run. Yoga has not helped, but this has. The only way I could describe the pain point is if you get a Barbie and really pull her legs so you see the thick elastic that attaches the legs to the body 😂THAT’s where it hurts. Your exercises to release the psoas seems to be helping so fingers crossed and thank you once again 🙏

Thank you for the great video, it’s excellent! Do you think releasing any pressure in the psoas can alleviate sciatica?

If you're on the muscle, but this pretty much feels like it's doing nothing, does that mean you don't have a tight psoas, and that your pain is caused by a different muscle?
@tierneyoriordan73559 ай бұрын
Similar situation for me, no tenderness or tightness that I might feel for other muscles. Doesn't feel like it's doing anything.. hoping this means they are in a healthy state.
@MovementFunction9 ай бұрын
It likely means that your psoas is not tight and yes, pain is coming from a different source.

Thank you so much for this brilliant video! May I please ask what might be a silly question.. how do you know when you are feeling the psoas and not an abdominal muscle... am probably overthinking it...
@MovementFunction6 ай бұрын
If you lift your leg very slightly, the psoas will firm up under your fingers because it is the primary hip flexor. The abdominal muscles don't lift the leg so they will not tighten when the leg is lifted.

@@MovementFunction Thanks for this, I'm also still concerned that I am not on the right point. Should I also feel the muscle engage during the active release as I slide my foot down? Thanks!

I’m fat. Tried to move my fat and pressed as hard as I could go. My hands are very strong due to my occupation. I can’t reach it. What should I do? This is a long time (decades) problem. Left foot is at least moderately pigeon toed, right foot less so. When my back “goes out”, I crumple to the floor and can’t move. All the MD’s can’t help but to give me morphine shots and hydrocodone to get me going again.

How'd you get fat? Just wake up one day?
@SnazzyDetritusАй бұрын
this just doesn't work if you have a lot of excess fat around your abdomen and sides. It's just impossible to get in the right spot.

My right hip sticks out looks like a couple inches so my body is crooked. The doc says meralgia Parasthetica, but I haven’t seen anyone look crooked like I do. My neck is sore & cracks every time I turn my head. My right leg pops as well. Supposed to be starting vertebrae in my back. If I bend a few times, my right back hurts. Any guesseswhat this is. Have had x-rays & mri & they said did not recommend surgery. One neurologist said to remove a disk in my low back. Any thoughts?

Hi Crystal, I just read your other comment that mentions agreeing with your doctor about surgery. I know hearing different recommendations can be frustrating and confusing, but I recommend seeing another doctor for a second opinion if the information is not adding up to you. If you have not had physical therapy, I also recommend seeking out a physical therapist for evaluation at least and see if they think you would benefit from further in-person therapy before moving on to surgery. All the best!

Thank you for your timely reply. I have tried quite a few doctors, had 4 steroid injections, been to physical therapy, myofacial, chiropractor & more. I feel so frustrated. It seems like my problem may be a greater hip trochanteric bursitis. Most of the pain is in my front thigh and down my leg but not to my knee. When I do bending activities, my back has pain, but it is mostly in my leg where the pain resides. @@MovementFunction

Don't do it mate mine goes in and out need to work on all the muscles and hydration through food not water, hot bath with salts and hot shower then straight to cold and cold immersion. You can do it need to do joint mobilisation with a back specialist
