Thanks. This was a very special knife for me. I have a few more traditional knife reviews coming up in a few weeks. Loads of videos already on Victorinox knives if you like them too...

One of the best in my collection, though the look is quite understated and tasteful rather than spectacular. Very well made, but a delicate little barlow compared to others. The micarta on mine arrived a little rough round some edges, but it was fixable.👍

This will always be one of the special knives in my collection. I do use it too....

Lovely knife, I do like the satin finishes to everything. And a lovely thin slicey looking blade. I’d be tempted to add one of these to my collection when funds allow! Thanks for sharing 😁

Thanks @retrostu1 It was a gift from my son's for a big birthday. So I was lucky I didn't have to buy iy. It is the most expensive knife I have...

I just bought this knife on Jan. 5, 2024. The knife steel had a slight upgrade to N690. The fit around the badge is a little more precise as well. Very nice Barlow

Nice! How sharp was it from the factory? my knife could have been sharper...

@@MB_EDC I had to strop it, but then it was fine

@@brianwhitelaw7483 That's not bad. These harder steels can be difficult to sharpen. Enjoy your knife. Mine is looking s little beat up now as I have used it a lot!

I have the Boker Prime Expedition, which uses the same configuration of materials. The fraying around the badge was noticeable, like yours, when I got it, but after a month of use appears to be going. The only thing I've done is give the covers a wipe with Renaissance wax to raise the nap. So it could be that.

Thanks. I’ll check that out.

This is a lovely looking knife. I am considering getting one as a special knife as I really like the style and bead blasted blade and bolsters.

I really like it. It is not easy to sharpen though the blade steel is very hard and I would have liked it to be sharper from the factory.

This is a beautiful knife. I like the design a lot, and as you said, the quality looks really good, too. I believe the micarta around the logo might smoothen out over time. I have a Civivi Bo in micarta, and the scales looked rough like this around the pivot and the screws, but after carry and use, those areas rounded off. The only thing that holds me back from getting one is the slight recurve in the blade. I don't like that at all. It also looks difficult to nicely sharpen the part close to the sharpening choil. I think the grind ould be better there. I wish the edge was all straight from the choil to curve at the tip.
@MB_EDC Жыл бұрын
It has been difficult to sharpen - mainly because the steel is very hard. The choil is small and with care you can sharpen right up to it

@@MB_EDC I wouldn't be worried about sharpening it all the way, but I don't like the way it looks, with that curve in the corner. I hope it's clear what I mean. I have something similar on some of my knives (e.g. cheap Kershaws). I guess it's because the plunge grind could be better. Not a huge issue, but I dislike the look. A perfectly straight edge would look a lot better to me, and it's probably a lot easier to sharpen on a flat stone, too.

I'm about to edit and upload a review of my Real Steel Lunar Lite. That came super sharp and I haven't had to sharpen it yet. My spyderco grasshopper cme sharp and was easy to sharpen too. I have been practicing with a couple of kitchen knives and have found a great one to use to test out another sharpener when I get one.

It is more than I would usually spend on a knife as I am not a collector. I was lucky that it was a gift from my sons

With the blade was polished. Otherwise this looks excellent.

It is a great knife. The stone washed blades does show up scratches very easily

20 years ago 440C was THE premium knife steel. These days it is at the low end of knife steels in every way. Still good enough for an old school type penknife. If you think 440C is hard to sharpen then you'll be horrified at some of the modern high end steels that make you work to get an edge even with diamond stones.

I am really new to sharpening. I needs a lot more practice. The other knives I have are much easier to sharpen

You make an interesting point about high grade steels of years ago, being classed as low grade now. How long before we see Magnacut being classed a mid level steel?
