***** The amazing thing is the cast and crew were not even trying that hard to make a perfect classic like the filmmakers today. I think they just wanted to make a good entertaining movie, and the end result just blew us away...

Has anyone watched this more than 8 times? Edit: Damn guys I commented this in July/August 2016 I was 11 and a half, now I'm a 17 year-old high school senior having a 'ditch day', and after nearly six years after first seeing this clip I actually finally watched this movie, and I have to say this was such an amazing movie and super entertaining from start to finish. 9.5/10.

Actually this moment wasn't according to the script. It was incidental. But they decided to keep it...
@KM-pr5vd3 жыл бұрын
This scene was intentionally added, thanks to Marilyn, and it was not incidental. Marilyn realized early on that, as originally conceived, Sugar Kane was little more than a "straight man" for the antics of the two male characters. She requested that Wilder and his writing collaborator I.A.L Diamond add bits and pieces to the script that would develop Sugar Kane's personality and allow the character to be a more active participant in the fun. One of the scenes that Wilder and Diamond rewrote is the first appearance of Sugar, captured as she hurriedly wobbles on high heels to catch a train. The rewrite allowed Marilyn to engage in a bit of physical comedy, for as Sugar shimmies along the platform, a sudden blast of steam noisily bursts from the train and across her undulating bottom. The cheerfully vulgar situation and Sugar's surprised reaction provide the audience with a good laugh and establish immediately the freewheeling nature of Marilyn's portrayal. Marilyn was pleased with the new scene that Wilder and Diamond came up with. She wanted her character to hold her own in the broad physical comedy intrinsic to a plot involving two men masquerading as women.

This is the perfect movie, I have been watching it for twenty years and still makes me laugh every time. The audience in 1959 must have fallen out of their seats with laughter when the 'girls' first appear on the train platform, still one of the best scenes in movie history.

I felt like being thrown back to the old times, that must have been all men's reaction in the movie theaters when the movie was first released at the time ! Marilyn's beauty is timeless :).

I was 12 when I first saw this movie. My cousin had caught tbc and everyone he knew had to get shots once a week for a year (....). I was terrified. My mother said: Stop screaming for once and I'l take you to the movies. And yep - we were lucky and my mother had taste : it was Some like it hot. I was captivated from the first moment I saw her. I terrorized my mother to take me to this movie 3 times in one week. She said: Don t you want to see something else? Nope. Then my father went into town and bought a poster for me. I still have it. I'm 61 now and the feeling I had the first moment I saw her has never left me. I'm from the Netherlands and I have made a vow that I will go to LA and go to visit her grave. And tell her how much she means to me. Is there an explanation about it? I don't know. It was just love at first sight.

The best comedy movie ever, everything about it is a joy. Now, does anyone know why actor/voice artist Paul Frees (Burgermeister Meisterburger, Professor Ludwig von Drake) was brought in to dub all the "Josephine" dialogue, instead of Tony Curtis' original talking? I only learned about this post-production looping recently. Thanks.

best line was from jack lemon, on seeing josephine/shell oil junior on the beach, when hes walking away with marilyn monroe, he remarks, do come and see us and bring your yacht, that cracks me up its so funny. then later on the bandstand marilyin monroe says, if only my mother could see me now, lemon replies, i hope my mother never finds out. curtis and monroe were great but for me lemon stole this film, he was funny as hell.
