There are many thousands of people in Australia who receive huge funding and benefits who will never contribute anything to society. They will never pay tax or do a productive job or help anyone but themselves. People who do contribute to society pay massive taxes yet get a bare minimum of help from the Government and have to pay over the top prices for everything just to stay alive.

Property prices have gone thru the roof, but governments of all persuasion are to blame. 40 years ago, laws should have been passed to stop non-citizens from purchasing freehold land in Australia, only allowed to purchase units. Such laws are in place in many Asian and other countries. We shot ourselves in the foot. Why didn't governments introduce such laws? Because the more, greater value, property sold for, the more money (taxes/duties) governments made.

Especially, when Australia politicians are looking at autonomy from the Government for the RBA. Australian's should also not support privatisation of their assets, not the government but the Australian peoples, like what has already happened. Privatisation, competition and selling to foreign interests has done nothing for the people but raise the cost of living and lowered the standards of the sold assets.

I was laid off three months ago, and despite our situation, we don't qualify for government assistance. This would be manageable, but with rent at $700 a week for a small terrace in what can only be called a ghetto, it’s a real struggle. We've contributed around $100,000 a year in taxes over more than a decade, along with the silent tax from relentless money printing… So yes, owning a home feels (and is mathematically) impossibly out of reach. It’s infuriating to be welcomed to my own country multiple times a day while applying for jobs at businesses prioritising a 'woke' agenda to appease certain groups. I hate this situation, I hate this country. @Trump, please help us secure a green card. We will bust our ass, just like we’ve been doing here. More than happy to denounce citizenship.

Where to spend? I did not misheard - ECONOMY? What is it? What Australia produces that can be bought, comparable to housing? Beer and weed? Definitely not cars, electronics, fuel, airplanes, ships, even energy is effectively produced in China as PV equipment. This is the problem, total unusability of Australian workforce. To do something real like Korean cars or Chinese electronics it is too expensive, to do something advanced like French nuke reactors or US software, movies and finance hoax it is too retarded.
And when its all over for Albo and Jim all the money is spent, the debt is increased and yet as usual with Labor nothing left to show for it. We the taxpayers are left with decreased living standards. Its a sad day when the IMF starts telling the Australian government to stop spending. Like we are a third world basket case.

Hamilton forgot to say the LNP imported millions of people since 2000 and John Howard said high house prices were a good thing. He also failed to mention the nine consecutive defecits the LNP managed to achieve and that most of the recent additional spending was directed at the NDIS to care for the disabled. Maybe Hamilton would prefer they be locked away in a room and forgotten. As for the housing crisis, the Abbott and Turnbull Governments did not even have a dedicated Minister for Housing which shows you how much they thought about the issue.
@user-pi6cs3ue4sАй бұрын
NDIS is broken. It was originally meant to cost 10 billion at maturity by 2030. People have kept adding to the program and costs have tripled. Its currently near 44 billion and expected to reach $125 billion. We need to be achieving double digit economic growth to afford the program. Maybe I just need a 15k NDIS holiday for social inclusion and metal wellbeing.
