I certainly do not mean to be rude but does anyone else believe the prices in thrift stores have become legal thievery besides me? Please do not give me the excuse they are out there to help with many different programs but how much money is actually put in pockets of the corporate elites. I do not have a problem paying a little more at a privately owned used store since they buy the items to resale in their shops but for all that get items donated as well as some individuals that are willing to donate their time is actually pricing the ones in need out of reach. It is getting to the point that the souls that needed to stretch their family's dollars by buying second hand can not even afford to shop at the corporate thrift stores. Is it a game the one with the most upon death is the winner for I know many people that could never in 2 lifetimes spend the money they have worked for. Please thrift store corporates give the less fortunate a break. You have made enough money to still live a delightful life but would it not be much kinder to share your wealth. NOT YOUR MONEY, but the free donated items at a price that is more obtainable for many? I know I love a good thrifting day but when I see these prices I would rather stand at the curb and give my items to the needy than donate to the unreasonable. Used Christmas trees $35. - $50., really?

Oh no you’re not rude at all. Totally agreed! And would you believe I have ran into my own donated items on the shelves! 🤣 I pay up for what I see value in and otherwise enjoy the hunt for the deals because there are still deals amongst the overpriced stuff. 🤩

Value village is one of the worst and I don’t mind saying. Our local Salvation Army is not being run very well in my opinion. They have such a long list of things they don’t accept at all, like toys.

I agree. I shop regularly at my local animal rescue store and Catholic charity store because I can see what they are doing with the money. One has kittens who have been spayed and neutered available for adoption. The other is actively giving out vouchers for clothing, school supplies, groceries, etc. while I'm shopping in the store. I avoid our Goodwill like the plague.

I couldn’t agree with you more. However, I noticed that most of the items she showed were high quality and a good price. Our local thrift stores seem to have a lot of cheap things at ridiculous prices - much more than hers and I just can’t understand who is doing the pricing and what their methodology is. Maybe it’s just hit and miss and I don’t go enough, but I have noticed that when I do go and find something I consider high quality in good shape, it’s priced like I was buying it new (or more!) from a retail store. Again, I’m not sure what they’re doing at my local thrift stores - especially Goodwill.

@@missylearned9821 Thank you for agreeing with some of my thoughts. If there is an item that I want and the cost is steep I than have to decide if I will pay that price or hold out for discount day. I love the one person's comment for help with animal rescues. To help one's spay or neuter an animal I am all with that.

The teapot went with a stand and the knobs on each side sat in the stand to allow it to tilt to dispense tea or coffee. Love your finds and your home is gorgeous. Merry Christmas.

Beautiful finds! The teapot at 8:46 would have had a warming stand underneath and the prongs on the side would fit in the cradle so you could tip it to pour. The book stand would be gorgeous with a Night Before Christmas book open on it!

Thrift store prices really do shock me. I remember when my mom took me thrifting when I was little you would find anything over $20. Those wise men should have ben $25 for the set.

That is the best group of thrifted items I have seen in forever! I loved everything and I would probably put some beautiful Christmas ornaments in the sleigh or wrap some tiny boxes to look like Christmas gifts and place in there, or some bottle brush trees. I love brass too and own a lot of pieces of that but I also use silver trays and occasionally I will paint them with white chalk paint and use a wax to bring out the details around the edges. I think both metals are beautiful. Great haul!

I can't believe the price of brass! I certainly hope the expensive pieces are solid brass. Brass is one of those metals like gold and silver that can skyrocket in value. The gorgeous box with the deers on it is carved out of an agate stone like a cameo brooch. Beautiful finds!

The three wise men that you thought were candle holders those came out in the 70s. They were made out of ceramic. Ladies used to meet and paint ceramics. It was a crafting trend. My grandmother painted the three wise men just like the ones you found. I only have one left to remember her by the other two got broken.

To fill in with some extra info... The african wooden antelope is very alike a "Springbok". The Springbok is the National animal of South Africa and it is used as a "Mascot" for every South African Sports National Teams... Like Springbok sailors, Springbok Runners etc...

The tea kettle has those “handles” on the side because the kettle had a stand and those were to rest the kettle on the stand.

The box appears to be alabaster. If it is, be careful around water because it's a bit fragile. Mom had some alabaster birds that dissolved in the sink. :( The needlework near the beginning appears to be rug hooking where loops are pulled through the holes in the fabric (linen, monks cloth, or burlap, usually), and tension alone keeps them in place. The fabric used as "thread" is most often wool. That sleigh is gorgeous. Mom would love that!

I've been looking for something like that for years but I don't ever find anything so nice 😢...I have a brass Santa sleigh that I put greenery and a faux wax light up candle inside. The 4 knobs,2 on each side of the silver "kettle" are actually what it hangs from a ornate base that suspends it having 2 stationary hooks on each side.

I think the ceramic Christmas tree in three parts was a stand that was missing its poles in between...? I also am guessing that the bits sticking out from the silver teapot are for sitting uo on.a stand that sometimes holds a candle or source of heat underneath to keep the contents hot. I LOVE that silver sleigh!! wow. Perhaps line it with a vintage napkin and fill it with nuts in their shells? I am totally blown away with your haul!!!

I love the winter scenery like deers and trays cause my husband's a hunter. I love the framed picture with the deer and the white background. And I love the big brass deer that is gorgeous. And I also have a set of the smaller brass deer the male and female that you have. I have a set of those from many years. I've had those that I used in my my scenery.

Spectacular finds!! The box top I believe is either alabaster or Carnelian. It's really amazing! The sleigh would be so versatile. You could do a floral centerpiece or line it with a festive napkin and have peppermint cane shaped cookies and other varieties of baked items on the table. I think it looks similar in asthetic to the teapot and would be very complimentary if you like to mix finishes. And, the teapot would be lovely with mercury glass. This video made me a subscriber and I am looking forward to watching your videos, older and new!!🎀🎉

I cannot even decide what I like best. Great finds. I’m new to thrifting and antiquing. I don’t feel like I have very good places where I am, so I need to drive a couple hours south to Austin or North to Dallas/Ft Worth area. I’m sure there’s places in between but I don’t know how to find out. What type of places do you thrift, besides like Goodwill and Salvation Army? Thank you Trina! It took me quite a bit of thrift stores before I found my “regulars” I hardly find anything at Goodwill so I don’t go there too often and I’ve actually never been to a SA. I suggest doing a google search and map them out along a certain direction. Set aside a full day of just going from one to the next, that’s how you will discover stores you perhaps never heard of. That’s what I did when I first started, happy thrifting 😊😊🤗😍

@@trinapemberton I goggled thrift stores in my county, that really opened up beyond my surrounding cities and widen the scope and then I planned them out in the same direction, so if I was heading North, I went from one to the next in that direction and then a few on the way back. That’s how I discovered the 2-3 that I frequent now. You can even try it for a different county, it depends on the size right, but I know everything in Texas is big 😂😊
