That’s an access scaffold with loading/landing platforms. Designed for people to work from. It’s possible it could be used for demolition but it does appear that it is for some sort of refurbishment if the ground area is kept in tact

Great video Shaun. Back in the day in the 70s and 80s the Go Kart track used to be where the car park is, you had walk through the arcade to get to it, so when it was turned into a car park that was more PB ride footprint lost. Even though it is good news of a new ride being installed, I think a ride like the Giro swing is a bit old hat. Again back in the day the PB was always first to have new and different rides but now it seems to be playing catch up with all the other parks, the PB has lost it's initiative over it's rivals and now there are also too many empty spaces.

You mentioned it a few times, "the park isn't saying anything, nothing official", Pleasure Beach really should be saying something, even if it's teasers like Towers are doing with the new ride, have to get better at communicating, they would likely see more season pass purchases as a result

A clever use of space could be if the gyro swing and it's platform were built above a lower ground floor area. Just build an even taller ride structure and safety netting over a large courtyard. Other rides could go underneath. This idea of building the ride above other things reminds me of the tunnel underneath the new Forbidden Valley flat ride at Alton Towers.

In my opinion, instead of removing Ice Blast, Blackpool Pleasure Beach could look to renovate the attraction (with a full paint job) and convert it into an S&S Spin Shot tower.

We went to blackpool last week and saw the scaffolding on ice blast. We use to go to the pleasure beach every time we went to blackpool (twice a year) but we stopped going a couple years back. It's not as good as it use to be and this year seems to be the worst with some of the rides closed

I would imagine ice blast is being refurbished,as you say it's been there a long time so a full paint job and maybe rebrand to fit in with valhalla,could even have some tilting or swinging seats,I think the giro swing is going where bowler drome is,and once grand prix is demolished a coaster we shall see

I think as you said that ice blast is getting a refurbishment. At pleasure island when hyper blaster left it was lifted away by crane...no scaffolding. I think the scaffolding makes doing works safer and easier.

I’ve been coming to BPB since I was the age of 7. Personally the park has just become derelict, the amount of buildings not in use and rides not operating it’s a shame. The park will always have a place in my heart as it’s my childhood theme park I really hope that they pull themselves together and bring this park back to life!

Logisticly removing a ride of this height via scaffolding would not work. There are no hoists or anything to remove the ride sections once removed. Also the scaffolding probabvly would not be designed to take weight loads that the ride probably is. Its more than likley just referb etc.

With the recent glow ups of alice and ghost train, could we see the ramp there towards Nickelodeon land being the main access to the back of the park now and all the section from millennium domb/planet rock, down towards fy4 being for a new large attraction. River caves entrence could easily be re-routed to come out via the HUB near the ghost train

Hey Shawn. I’ve been to BPB many times in my life growing up in Lancashire and working at Pleasure Beach Radio for a couple of seasons and I think, apart from Icon, the Pleasure Beach has just become a bland, colourless, run-down shadow of its former self. The Big Dipper and Grand National are now quite painful to ride, Revolution has seen better days, Infusion is the worst roller coaster in the uk unless you like your head battered from side to side and really everything at the park just feels run down. I cannot believe they are thinking of building another hotel there - how about taking the area of Grand Prix and the area you’ve just shown and create another amazing launch coaster? I’m not really into spinning coasters but they could fit that in in the space where they were doing the surveying. I’ll be visiting end of this month because my nephew and I love Icon and Avalanche and he’s really looking forward to his first ride on the Big One. Here’s hoping they do something to bring BPB back up to near the top of best Parks in the UK.

Certainly don’t think the scaffolding means it’s being removed, remember we removed Apocalypse in 5 days using a crane MEWP’s (and a bosuns chair 😂) and a small team. The cost of that scaffolding will be huge, certainly more than a weeks hire of a crane capable of removing it.

A re-theme of ice blast would be awesome. Could they make it taller? Me personally would like to think that they will re-theme to go along with the vikings, I would call it Thors Hammer, have the station indoor with screens & visual effects & build up to the hammer slamming the ground to shoot the gondola up, would fit in nicely & give the ride a new lease of life

I'm not going to get excited for a couple lame flat rides that belong in a fairground.... Give me some proper rides worthy of a park like that! They got The Big One in 1994, Valhalla in 2000 and then Icon in 2018.... It's just not good enough! On top of that they have that stupid QR system, in fact the owner keeps making a ton of stupid decisions and it all results in me never wanting to go back. Getting rid of the Wild Mouse was another bummer and they scrapped it entirely while doing nothing with the area, why not at least keep it there even if it's not running any more? It deserved so much better, I'd rather see it be a museum piece than scrapping it. They need to start coming out with a major new ride every four or five years. Get rid of some of the old ones or re imagine them like an RMC hybrid or something, Infusion really is a pile of crap.... Why not replace it with one of those new amazing Vekoma's like Emerald Park?

I visited yesterday and noticed the Infusion model has now gone. I am also very upset that they have dropped Blackpool from the name of the park as if they are ashamed of it. Some of the merch even says Pleasure Beach Lancashire.

They wouldn't erect scaffolding if it was coming down. It's safer to remove the sections using a picker, no-one under it, or relying on scaffolding platform if a part fell.

Personally, I would prefer to see the Gyro Swing replace Ice Blast, although it does look like the latter might be staying. River Caves deserves a full refurbishment and modern animatronics, I think. Used to ride , the national, b dipper ,and the mouse , back in early 80s .... no safety bars or belts on any , you just held on for your life , i was 14 great days , plenty school days spent in the fun house ... best of all no phones ..
